Hi guys, Picked myself up a 2000 748R not long ago with a view to tidying it up and getting it 100% before hitting the road. The bike itself has had a pretty good life, but has sat doing not alot for the past 6 years. So just before I bought it, it was treated to new belts, fluids and filters. Made a start on checking it over now it's got a space in the man cave, found all 4 fork pinch bolts loose and the steering damper wobbling about, so will definitely be checking everything! Anyway, this is how it stands
Unless you have a receipt indicating a recent battery change then I'd cover all bases, get a new battery and keep the old one as a spare. You'd be surprised how many older batteries show a strong and full charge but are so old they can't hold it and then you get, can you help me on the electrical's posts. Looks quite nice, proper colour for the 748 too
Don't use the 2002 parts book as there are a lot of differences, if you go to Ducati's main site the 2001 parts book will download and is close, someone on here may have a MY00 one, your bike was probably assembled in 99. Even then there will be a few anomalies depending on the construction date of your bike http://www.ducati.com/ducati_genuine_parts.do
Nope can’t see one where’s ya bins we like them it’s a forum law and.... if that’s not bad enough your yellow!!!!! Welcome into the mad house You got a lot of making up to do
Thanks everyone! Looking forward to getting the bike a bit further along before I get her out on the road It's been started on the regular, had full service (including belts), MOT'd and have ridden it a couple of times with no issues. Had a look inside the tank when I replaced the quick release flow and return fuel fittings last week and all seems good Thanks! Bins are out front, i'll have to get a cardboard cut out of it for future pics lol! Cheers! I'm ordering some race fairings in red over the next couple of months, the yellow just isn't me. I bought the bike purely for what it was and with a quick change of fairing it's the 'proper' colour
