1199 Rear Nut Torque Value

Discussion in 'Panigale' started by Stephen Moir, Aug 6, 2018.

  1. hey folks

Looking for some info on this I know ducati torque the nut up to over 240nm

But have been reading on here that the Moto gp teams only torque theirs upto 180nm

Is there a specific reason for this ? And would 180 suffice

Or should I go with Ducati’s recommendations ?

    Thanks

  2. 230Nm will line 1 of the 4 holes in the axle for the wire clip which MotoGP don't use. The older 848 style smaller rear axle uses less but for me, My 1098R, Multistrada 1200sT and my girlfriend's Diavel, I use the full 230Nm. Andy

Will go with the correct torque values

    Thanks

  5. Pussy. I do it with me bare hands.... rargh...

OP- ffs don't go 180nm. Far too low. Go 230 and nip it if need be to align the nut retaining clip- and lube it too. This is a safety critical torque value plus you can wreck your cush drive if you under torque.
