959 Suddenly Sounding Rough

  1. If it was a broken piston they'd be copious amounts of black smoke.
    Is it under warranty?

  2. No smoke of any colour.
    Bike is registered July 2017 so should be under warranty.

  3. If it sounds louder then it's prob a cracked exhaust or spring come off and the exhaust has separated.
    Start the bike and slowly and carefully move yr hand along the exhaust and feel for a breeze.

  6. Check your rear exhaust header as cracking is quite common.

    Can't see anything like this. I'm just trying to remove lower fairing, and struggling with the fixing under the rad.

  10. Update.

    So stripped off the lower fairing, started her up. Sounded normal. Felt along the pipes. Nothing. Idled it up to 100 degrees to see if the crack appears at higher temp. Nothing. Took her out for a quick spin. Totally normal.

    Can't explain it but it nosw appears nothing is wrong :confounded::D

  17. Maybe just a Ducati thing. I ride my 1299 into work every day. Same procedure every day. Yesterday morning it was just chugging and feeling rough and I wondered if there was something wrong. This morning she ran sweet as anything. Reading this thread reminded me about yesterday.

  19. It was say in the direct sun all day on a very hot day. Maybe the ecu got hot. Dunno.
