  1. The surfacing was under their control, I'd be putting a claim in if they didn't refund the money.

  2. What they should have done at 11am to at least give people the option of making plans for Monday.

Unfortunately they decided to have everybody sit about for another 5 hours in the cold and rain before telling them their weekend had been wasted.

  3. Does anyone know why it can't be run tomorrow ?

  4. You cannot dial out aquaplaning. That was the issue.

  5. It is hard though. If they had told everyone to go home two hours ago and it cleared up...

  6. Logistics. No staff, Marshalls, doctors, helicopters. All these things have to be present. Plus the traffic aspect. I suspect you need some sort of licence or approvals with local authorities to run such a large scale event.

  7. Why not start the race behind safety car and see if the bikes going around would displace enough water?

Very disappointed it ended being cancelled due to riders not wanting to ride. The race should have started and the riders can choose to not ride or go slower.

  8. They had state of the art weather systems.

  9. So do the BBC but it doesn't seem to make any difference

  10. yes you can!....slow down, pick a different part of the circuit..

  11. With it been bank holiday and knowing uk weather surely could have had a contingency in place for a potentially Monday programme the weather must have been seen to be possibly bad days ago, the bank holiday was the the saviour, someone somewhere other than me is a complete useless wanker

  12. The reality of the situation was that the circuit wasn’t able to cope with what is fairly normal weather for the UK.

It may have been okay at 1600, I couldn’t tell, but earlier in the day I doubt if it was acceptable in the modern age.

I don’t think the circuit owners have a leg to stand on.

  13. i would love to know the technical side of the resurfacing..

the type/specification of tarmac used..ie resistance to heat/cold
the specification for the camber shape of all the areas of the circuit did they go into this depth of research prior to laying the stuff? Surely there were measurements and angles to consider ?
what about drainage seemed a bit of a knee jerk reaction to put in the extra drains overnight...like a surprise..

  14. A complete farcicle
No information available, stood around all day getting wet, no cover apart from the stand which was absolutely freezing.
They need to get their act together

  16. My mates tent hasn’t held up well. Mine is thankfully holding well.

We’ll be after a refund. Racing wasn’t cancelled due to weather, it was called off because the surface couldn’t cope with a normal amount of rain.

  18. Also it is about race craft...thats on and off the track...

by the ducati riders saying they dont want to ride they might as well of said we dont think we can win the championship this year!

Put that into the context that marquez has been decidedly on the edge all week end, i would of wanted to force him to ride, possibly, make a mistake even not score, ducati riders get 25 points and they are nearer to being in the championship race...

  19. The riders backed out in the end, yes Silverstone are partially to blame for the surfacing, but the riders clung to previous conditions for theirs own agendas and for a variety of reasons it was they that backed out.

Silverstone should issue a refund, Silverstone should then go after Dorna for contribution to costs, the riders should be ashamed frankly.

  20. Since none of us have ever had the opportunity to ride a 220mph race bike that weighs less than most single cylinder bikes, I'm not sure we are in a position to judge whether it was safe to ride or not.

Some people need to just accept that the resurfacing has been a complete cock up for whatever reason.

Silverstone were made aware some months ago that the job to replace the race track had not been done well. There will be an investigation made over the next six weeks to ascertain why that was.
