Having recently bought a GS 1200 for some comfortable touring and joined a nameless forum I get the impression that most BMW owners are somewhat stuck up their own anal passages. Its not really news to me that they seem to suffer from delusions of grandeur , based on some misplaced superiority complex. I am quite happy with the GS which does what it says on the tin, but I cant help feeling the invisible waves of scorn being aimed at me, despite waving at anything on two wheels. Ah well, I am off now to grow a thicker skin and polish my Ducati.:wink:
Can't help but notice it seems to be the whole 'lifestyle' thing that makes certain riders haughty. Buy a BMW and you must, by default, buy the System helmet and the System overland textiles. Same with Harley, the leather waistcoat is not an option, same with Ducati and their godforsaken Corse trinkets. And the people who subscribe to the matching everything are the ones, I find, who hold their noses aloft. It ain't for me. I worked out long ago that bikes are all about personal enjoyment, not about what other people think of you.
Try Boxertrix? That's where my brother is on, and he has mostly a reasonable laugh. Sme knobs but hey, they are everywhere to a lesser or greater degree
No different to here..plenty of anal and elitist types reside ;-) I'm nod-happy when I ride, and have to say when riding m GS I had less nod-back than on any other bike....its the 'I wanna be Ewan' factor attached to the bike and the Harley-model BMW (and Ducati) aim to endorse to not only get you to buy their metal and plastic but also the goretex, leather and head-shell to match

Tell me I'm wrong :biggrin: Actually I know some nice bimmer owners, but GS riders reserve a special place in the winky-wonky world of spanners who are in it for the pose. All the gear no idea is the correct phrase in their instance. Don't do it to yourself - trade it ...:wink:
