this caught my eye on the carandclassic site :- Ducati NCR900 Replica Competizione For Sale (1981) on Car And Classic UK [C217698] have a feeling this site will take over from Pistonheads for bikes now as the motorbike section continues a downward spiral since deciding to charge for adverts.
It doesn't look right. The back end in particular looks very low and the fairing seems to sit funny. Is it my eyes ?
+1 I've never been a fan of the original MHR look. It always seems bulky and heavy unlike the half faired 900SS which looks long and lissom.
you are right it probably is sitting lower at the back than intended - the caster of the forks and even the swinging arm angle imply the same but I don't think it looks as bad as the 750/900SS from 1989/90 as far as asthetics go*. Main thing is - how does it go? it's possible that the rear would sit down on hard acceleration. *or these for that matter - lovely bike but whole front of bike/ that tank position, what were they thinking of?.. (must have a humungous airbox or something)
Had mine tested by Performance Bikes at their Twins Frenzy and it was joint top on speed with a Sports Motorcyles F1 750, fastest twins they had tested at that time. Would have been better without a slipping clutch. It might have been 950 at that time or 1030, it was along time ago. I WILL get it rebuilt:biggrin:
Ok Steve, I will change that to I WILL rebuild it. Not that I am getting into a pissing contest, but Imodified the engine to take a plain bearing Mille crank and got it to work, so I guess we are two of a kind
I think mine was prettier. Started life as 860GT but did have SS heads and 40mm carbs. Wasn't very fast, mostly down to the pipes being a bit restrictive I think. I really shouldn't have p/xed it for a 750 Sport (belt/not bevel, sadly!).
Hi,just joined the PORN is far from correct.Modded 78 NCR body,79 NCR fairing&early 860 engine with through the case left hand shift.NOT even close to being anything but a pile of mismatched parts.
If you click the link to his website from the advert he has even more porn. Some lovely bikes with salty prices.
Hi Guys nice but still got the wrong fairing. The bike at the top of the thread this bike needs that fairing. If you follow the link on the first bike there are THREE original and correct NCR's ONE 78 Like MIKE the BIKE's TWO 79 models an endurance model and one built POWER HOUSE of Japan. It's not what you ride it's that you ride.
