Motogp Refund

  1. I doubt they will get insurance cover for 2019 event until this issue is resolved.

  2. More policy future cover will depend on if they can be held t blame and make a successful claim. Means whatever they get next year will be a whole lot more expensive and/or have huge excess.

IMHO they are less likely to do MGP next year simply because of how MGP have 100% blamed the circuit, when they feel the decision could have been made far earlier (according to their statement). Expect a break in contract or a bunch of cash from Dorna...wonder if thats the end of a British GP for a while

  5. And I've received the email saying I get a full refund for my Sunday tickets...how much is a flight to Aragon??

  6. Just got an email from Silverstone confirming they are refunding my tickets, result!

  7. Woo hoo! Email received and full refund of my Sunday tickets!

  8. Fingers crossed for a return to Donington, a track where you can actually see some action, and only 9 miles away from me.

  9. For those talking about claims against the surfacing contractor for negligence.... it really depends if they delivered what they were asked to. They will have been given a brief/specification and it depends if they delivered that. It may be that they recommended further work that Silverstone didn’t want to pay for. What looks like simple bad workmanship can often be clients cutting corners (design/materials) because they don’t want to pay for a proper job.

  10. The CEO of Dorna, forget his name, the old bloke, was interviewed a day or two ago and said no change.

  11. There is still an issue with the run off at Donnington that needs to be sorted before Donnington qualifies for a GP circuit. Not sure JP has the money just yet to convince Dorna that they could be ready. Andy

  12. I’m sure I read he simply wouldn’t: not worth the investment for one race that doesn’t make money

  13. I got an update.....still deliberating my refund as in their words “ Due to the wide range of ticket types and size of the event, the circuit are still planning procedures with their insurers”
That’s because we paid for hospitality I suppose?

  14. Wonder what they’ll do for camping and grandstand

  15. Yes if that’s the case then there is no hope.
Bigger run offs would make all events taking place at Dono safer but obviously money takes precedence over safety! :)

  16. And pushes the crowds back, until you get like Silverstone.

Palmer seems to have UK car and bike events a little sewn up; why bother bending the knee to Dorna?!

  17. TBH the problem with viewing at Silverstone is that it’s so flat not the size of the runoffs, conversely the elevations at Dono makes it a superb spectator track, especially from the inside of the craner curves, anyway it’s irrelevant as JP won’t invest for the sake of a GP race, I actually didn’t want to go to Silverstone as I know how hopeless the viewing situation is but my wife had never seen a MotoGP “in the flesh” so we went just so she could experience the noise etc, at least she saw the warm up’s!.

  18. Hence why wsbk never went back to Brands Hatch as he refused to pay over the odds to host the race .

  19. Going by the price of sausage rolls at Cadwell, he has the money. :punch:

  20. :upyeah:
