DMC Preston advertised this on Friday night on FB first. I asked for the price and nearly spat my coffee out over the keyboard when they posted what they wanted for it.
This is a bit silly. There was a story on another US forum of an AC Cobra that suddenly appeared on Ebay for $1,000,000 - a huge price hike from their normal price. Within a month other excited owners put their AC Cobras on for $1 million too ( well wouldn't you?) hoping to cash in on this 'bubble' before it disappeared. Not one AC Cobra sold. Some time later the market got back to normal.
I'm by no means an expert but, pretty sure the Paul Smart ltd edition versions are going for around £10-£11k, so would guess £3ish k less with the fairing etc this ones got. There's another thread on here where one went recently on eBay for £6.5k I believe
Paul Smarts are going for more than £11K DUCATI PAUL SMART BRAND NEW £12800 SOLD | eBay I've seen prices higher than this too. I do find the prices of these bike quite curious, when they were in the showrooms the sold very slowly, the minute they were no longer available demand and prices start to pick up. Prices will probably level off at some stage, but this is a dealer price, there may be room for negotiation but it will always be at the higher end of the range, even so they aren't just tacking on a random hopeful price, they'll be playing a waiting game and should know their market well enough to enable a sale at some stage however baffling that may seem to many on here. I'm glad I bought mine when I did, I intend to enjoy it for a long time.
There's always a premium for a "new unused" discontinued model. There's a used one on auto trader for £11k at the moment.

Anyway I think it's the AC Cobra effect (see above) they saw the Paul Smart advertised for £11k and the Paul Smart on Ebay for £9,999 so they thought "why not?", After all an Ebay classified ad is only £15 - worth a punt?
The S cost more than that when new, it was about £8000, possibly one of the reason why it wasn't a big seller.
LOL... that's just taking the piss... There's Paul Smart on ebay for £10k and it's been sitting there for ages...
The PS on there is being sold by the same seller as my previous link, they also have an NC35 on there for almost £5k
Funny thing about that dealer - I saw one of the pictures he had on his ad showing at least 5 PS' in a neat row - Had he , or someone else, bought a job lot of 5 machines when they went out of production? I can see his logic - 5 Paul Smarts, zero mileage, bound to go up in value, wait a few years and make a killing? Trouble is he will end up flooding the market unless he sells them one every six months or so. Oh by the way ... WEBUYANYBIKE.COM Will offer you ... £3,620 for a 2008 1000S 6k Miles Excellent condition - one owner:biggrin:
I sold my Sport Classic S,a 2009 model with stainless Termis and adj front suspension,in Sept 2011 and got £6800 from a private buyer. He was going to ride it for a year in the UK and then take it home to Australia. They were attracting big dollars over there at the time.
Oh well, just goes to show, bikes are worth whatever someone will pay for them. Price guides out the window.
