In Bradford today we went into one of them old-style Turkish bath houses. If you haven't been in one before, they shave you with hot towels and a cut-throat razor. Everything below the neckline gets shaved off, chest hairs, pubic hairs, arse crack, and then they finish you with a moustache trim and alcohol rub. It was the best I’ve seen the missus look in years.
The wife bought a rice cooker yesterday. We're going to eat tons of rice over the next few days, and then never again......
My girl has similar too she had to come home from college Tuesday and was in bed all day yesterday looks like she is going to try going back today
Took the to the local tax office today to register it here in Ireland. It's a UK bike, bought new by me in 1999, brought here by me in the lorry when I moved our bits & pieces here in 2011, not used here or put on the public road until I recommissioned it this summer. I got an export cert from the DVLA, it shows the date of first registration as 1999, I even have the original invoice, took all that plus the other paperwork I needed to the office with the bike so they can process it, check the VIN and engine numbers match and issue me an Irish registration plate (which is needed for my insurance) What happens? The feckers tell me that as the bike has done less than 6000Km it's regarded as new and I have to pay €2052 in VAT! . Despite having paid the VAT in the UK when I bought it. Apparently anything less than 6months old or 6000Km is "new".. Needless to say I didn't pay. Not only that, but on the way home it started so now I'm soaked, the is wet and filthy and I'm .
Good idea. Unfortunately, when I rocked up at the revenue office the inspector made a note of the current mileage 3150 miles and entered it into the system. There's no way I can frig it now.
How does he know you haven't taken it back to England and added a few miles, in fact why don't you do that - you need to get to 3729 which ain't much
Does it not come under the exemption of transferring of residence? http://www.citizensinformation.ie/e...ve_in_ireland/importing_car_into_ireland.html https://www.revenue.ie/en/importing...efs-and-exemptions/transfer-of-residence.aspx I found these but not sure if it helps?
Yeah, just 579 miles. If I'd known about the fact <6000km makes it "new" I'd have waited a while to register it. Unfortunately, I didn't, despite trawling through the Revenue's web site I found no mention of it, merely the fact I'd have to pay VRT (Vehicle Registration Tax) which, for a bike of this age is €109. Now, there's an oxymoron if ever there was one. As far as the Vehicle Excise Dept is concerned the VRT is reduced by 90% from €1098 due to the bike's age but as far the VAT dept is concerned it's a new vehicle! Even more unfortunately they now have 3150 miles on the system and I have a bill for €2052 VAT plus €109 VRT which I'm not paying.
Thanks Noobie and yes it does. I could have applied for an exemption for the VRT due to transfer of residence (TOR) but, being impatient, once I'd got the bike recommissioned and ready to go on the road I insured it using the UK plates and have 30 days with my insurer to register it or else the insurance lapses so I made the appt at the revenue office. You would not believe the paperwork that has to be sent off to the Revenue to claim the TOR relief, and it takes about 3 months to process, so I thought I'd bite the bullet and pay the €109 VRT. I'm not aware there's any relief on the VAT but I do have an open enquiry with the Revenue since this morning.
So you can re apply? it's always been the case for imports into the UK, didn't realise it was the same into Ireland though.
