Funny enough, the article says all circuits have annual homologation anyway. So is it any different, really?
i recon jobsworth justifying their existing due to the profile of the recent incident...a back hander will sort it.
Depends if you're the 'glass half full' type and easily spooked by media spin...... But no, no different
Well they've got all winter to fix it and id imagine it will be tested thoroughly by our lovely weather so I reckon we'll be seeing MotoGP there in 2019...
i believe the new surface was tested thoroughly by FIM on completion ......hence them now saying that it has "changed"
Yes but I think it was resurfaced only fairly recently so they surely expected re-homologation to be a formality for a few years, now it sure isn't. If another re-surfacing is needed who stumps up the cash? For me that race was a farce, I understand the safety aspect but personally I still think they should have put on full wets and wobbled around, how can that be worse than no race at all? Don't MotoGP bikes have a slow down mode, er, twist throttle the other way? Like we all would if there was standing water on a motorway and we HAD to keep going? Pete
According to the Daily Telegraph: “Silverstone, the motor racing circuit, is seeking a lifeline of up to £13m amid “material uncertainty” over its future” I’m not sure that this year’s MotoGP will have helped their financial situation, which (according to the article) is caused by losses from hosting F1.
Let’s face it, the current lot won’t ride in a bit of rain, so the thought of run off that isn’t 200m away and that crashing would actually be a BAD thing and they PROBABLY WILL GET HURT will put them off. There is such a low risk of injury (comparatively), it’s driving them to find limits by crashing.
