Hi guys. Just joined the other day, and was looking for some advice about ing pick ups on my 1989 851 Strada- really pleased to get answers virtually right away- Cheers. Been a long term Ducati owner and currently have three in the shed just now. !979 GTS( much modified and dressed as a MHR( this ones going nowhere as it broke my ankle years ago when I kick started it- ignition pick ups wrong way round.) 1989 851 Strada- bought 6 mths ago, and currently undergoing a lot of work- has been idle for ten years. Did have it sorted and back on the road until the alternator rotor split in two and locked onto the windings and stopped the bike at 60mph- not good. Engine out new rotor and windings, Replaced front barrel and piston Chrome damaged. Lapped valves and New Oil seals Clearances sorted Injectors sent away for refurbishment( 10 yrs crud) Bodywork repaired and painted Seats recovered Frame refurbished. Ready to fill with fluids and fit exhaust then back in the land of the living-can't wait. Also have a 2000 ST4 frame fitted with a 900 belt engine. twin shocked Pantah swinging arm Yamaha forks Aprilia wheels Believe it or not this one is taxed and Mot'd It is built as a replica homage to A Ducati Imola and looks the bollacks. In the shed I also have a BMW R1200s ( for Sale) and a really cheeky wee KTM Rc390( to make fun of the big boys on back roads) Will try and post some photos although I am not great with computors.
Hi guys again - still trying to find my way round the forum- will post some photos once I know what I am doing. Excellent news- got the 851 fired up this morning and sounding great after the rebuild. Only issue is water leak from pipework above the front head, under the air box. I am sure its nothing major and will investigate on Friday probable. Keep you posted.
