Well I finally got the logbook sorted out so was able to tax it and took it for the first ride First impressions the suspension is brilliant (in normal setting ATM - very plush and supportive on the roads I ride on it feels pretty well sorted), the engine is a peach - so much grunt just leave it in 4th and wind it on. The fuelling excellent definitely better than the panigale. The thing turns really quickly and effortlessly and the brakes are mega Definitely needs a quickshifter - gearbox is really nice though. Levers are terrribly positioned and need turning up as blipping on the downshift is difficult as the levers are pontes too low. Really good bike I’m pleased with it.
you'll love that seat, I have one and its all day comfy, give riders with a long leg a better riding position and looks great too
Yeah it’s definitely improved it. It’s actually firmer but more cushioning it’s strange but it works. I fitted the termi exhaust the other day and it sounds mega. Still need to take it in to get the upmap done though Just ordered a shido lithium battery for it too. Will save a few kg and the standard one is in its way out I think.
Hey Nick, I just made an account on this forum. Sorry for not introducing. My bike is also an Monster 1200R 2016. I am researching on how to get the headers so nice silver looking. Or in other words how to get rid of the brown color and stains. How did you do it? Thanks, Ivo
To get real shine they need polishing on a polishing wheel, they will stay quite bright afterwards with a quick going over every now and then with Solvol Autosol or similar. Best initially to remove them to polish
Hi Ivo Bit like Monsterped really. When I got mine the pipes were pretty stained / tinted brown, so I used Solvol autosol and some really fine grade (grade 0000) wire wool. (as used for furniture restoration) Several ‘coats’ of that followed by a good polish up. Did try / use harpic as well, but found that a bit messy / a faff. No substitute for some elbow grease I think…. But worth it in the end. !
Thanks for the replies. I don’t want them shiny but more of a matte look. Will disassemble the exhaust and bring it to a company who will clean it in acid and passivate the exhaust. We’ll see if and how I have to maintain that after this treatment. Will posts some before/after pictures.
