1198 1198r Crankshaft

  1. good evening all!

    I have a option on a 1198R crankshaft. I have changed almost everything to R components in the engine. Only the crankshaft is missing. Does this R crankshaft do a big thing instead of the oem crankshaft?

  2. Yes will be lighter than oem.
     
  3. but you'll need the r con rods as well or you'll be adding weight to the crank..

  4. do you have the sand cast crank cases? what gearbox are you using? std?

  6. No and i use the oem gearbox

  8. a strong 1198 motor bottom end is
    sand cast cases
    10/1198 crank
    1098R rods
    pistols pistons (two ring)

    and i would go for a nova or better value a BSD three dog gearbox whilst you have the crankcases separated!

    and of course the whole thing dynamically balanced...

  11. WoW! That is a big difference! How does it goes on road? It think it will be faster on speed or something?

  13. The 1098r crank will spin a lot quicker, could be a handful on the road

  15. especially with a lighter flywheel....:cool: ( ok for the track with a higher idle speed)

  16. around 1600 pounds... a nova is around 2200.

    beautiful piece of engineering!!
     
  17. I can vouch for the BSD box, super strong, use it with qs and gear changes are slick :upyeah:
