I'm with @bradders , bike would need to be cheap enough to factor in a valve service by OnYerBike so it would make sense to get it serviced by a cheaper (But still respected) garage. If it was belts (on a belted bike) I'd say leave, but valves can be pricey and many less people will do their own valves compared to belts)
http://www.moto-vationracing.uk/ Tim at Moto vation is based in Cheltenham, well worth a trip up the M5 from Bristol. My 899 has always been looked after there once the warranty was up. My bikes due the 15000 service next year ...& that’s where it’s going !
And all is ex-Ducati lead mechanic and a real anal mechanic when its comes to cleanliness etc (Notice mechanic, not technician... ) may take a while tho
One of the drivers for my change of brand was no local support. I have heard enough negative stuff about riders to put then out of equation. Totally unfounded mind you, I found them helpful enough when I went there with an issue in warranty
They were a bit of a nuisance with my last mot. That's my only direct experience with them. The guy on the phone yesterday didn't know a bicycle from a tube of toothpaste.
I've always found Riders to be pretty good personally. £1200 is about the going price for the 15k service, but also enough to think about trading it in instead potentially...
Can I add another shout out for Paul at PGPerformance. Just had my Desmo service done by him and around half the initial quote from the main dealer
Hi I’ve got a 1199s which will hit the big service next year I live in Surrey what price and who do you guys recommend Thanks
I suppose it depends where in Surrey you are. Paul saved me between £500 and £700 against main dealer prices . At those prices you could get a taxi both ways and still save against the main dealer cost. I will certainly be using him again for both my bikes. He works from home so can be flexible with drop off / pick up times if you are travelling.
