Good Evening On inspection of my most recent purchase that being an early 2005 749s grey swingarm I noticed having removed the fairing that the 54mm Termignoni full system touches part of the sump area as in attached photo with white arrow . All other areas of fitment are fine its just in the area around where mentioned . Any help advice would be much appreciated Karl

Perhaps it was meant for a deep sump engine? If that is the only issue, I would be tempted to “modify” it with a gentle persuader of the 2 lb type...
Evening RickyX Thanks for the reply . Not sure with regards to this section of pipe as to the difference between deep & shallow sumps . Purchased with full system fitted so just don't know as to what gaps against sump area there should be
Sorry, I can’t help either as I only have 57mm system on a deep sump motor. That looks a bit close though. Can you get a silver Rizla through the gap??
2005 bikes had a Black Deep Box swingarm. As Ricky says, give it a tweak - maybe loosen, tap a spacer in, tighten and remove spacer and see what happens, could be a fitment issue...
Thank you for the advice . Fingers crossed it will turn out to be a fitment issue . Bike is registered as an early 2005 and has the grey swingarm which i'm led to believe can be the case
Late registered 2004, but good luck with the tweak!!! - you can get the date of manufacture from Ducati if you email them on [email protected] with the frame and engine number. Who told you it was an 05 model btw?
V5C States Date of registration 04 2005 on an 05 plate ? Did check with Ducati before purchase frame and engine number all tied up
Date of reg means nothing, send a mail to the address above. Or did you already check with Italy? If not and if you do keep us informed! Never heard of this anomaly before but always interesting
Yes I contacted them before the purchase to confirm all serial numbers within their database matched . Cant recall who I spoke to at the time with another call but was told around this year they mixed and matched the 2 swingarms & grey could have been fitted around this time
I would drop them a mail and get it in writing for reference, they will give you the actual manufactured date. If 2005 they would have started production anywhere around October / November the previous year. A MY05 could be made in 2004.
Anyhooo.... I recommend loosening it all off and wiggling it about to see if you can regain the clearance.
