Has anyone suffered with oil cooler and/or water pump failures? I’ve had 2 of each now, first oil cooler at this years TT as I was about to go over the mountain (back tyre covered in oil causing me to nearly crash with obvious incredibly serious consequences!). Then I’ve had the water pump seal fail a few months back, coating the tyre in coolant and again I narrowly avoided crashing and serious injury (or worse). Water pump seal failed again a few weeks ago and could have caused another crash if I had not spotted it. Get my bike back just over a week ago from new pump and seal being fitted again, first chance to ride it today. Oil cooler has failed again (only managed about 80 miles after coming back to me) and nearly causing a very serious accident. As you can imagine I’m a bit livid as that’s 4 times I could be been seriously hurt or worse! Will be speaking to my dealer tomorrow about rejecting bike unless something can be done. Not sure if I can do this?
this from another Forum (above is out of context, doesn't necessarily mean the union has fractured at the joint)
I rejected a Honda vfr1200 a few years ago if the bike is on finance or PCP you need to tell the finance company I informed the dealer that I was rejecting the bike as it wasn't fit for purpose I then got my solicitor to write a letter stating the relevant clauses from the sale of goods act setting out my grievences and what i wanted to settle the mattter idid keep accurate records of the problems copy of the letter was sent to the dealer Honda UK and the finance company The finance company put a lot of pressure on Honda and the dealer because basically it's there bike I got a new bike very quickly
Scary!!! On both those pics it looks like there’s a witness mark on the side of the oil cooler as though something is pushing against it? Could possibly put a load on, or distort the pipe union?? I’d be very wary about riding that until a 100% fix is found.
