"All things being equal". What does that mean? Rossi isn't equal to Marquez, we don't have to wait until next year to know that. If you are confident, why not place a charity bet now?
You could be right but most has beens are at the back of the field and do nothing and then go on to retirement.
You confuse the fact that I recognise that he's no longer capable of winning the championship and not far away from not being able to win races any more, for "hatred". I actually like him as a person. Why do you love him to the point where it clouds your judgement of his abilities to the point where you think not having won a race from the last 27 and leading the race today, but ultimately falling off "bodes well for 2019"
Its all about context. Compared to what he was, and what the very best two are today, yes. But that makes all those who sit behind him in the championship either has-beens or, mostly, never-beens
Agreed. He’s been in the top 4 for the past few seasons and I think he will continue to be for the next couple of years. I personally think it was Simoncelli’s death that affected him more than he let on, as the slide seems to have started then. He’s still a #1 sales aid for sports bikes and Yamaha in particular though. I can’t see that ever diminishing.
Imho if it weren’t for his fanatical following and the cash that obviously generates, he would have lost a top seat a few years ago.
It goes without saying that mm is the best rider we have ever seen and will go on to win more titles (as long as he continues to bounce and walk away) but to say rossi is a has been is fucken farcical. ..
Unless he starts winning, and dominating again, which is about as likely as me shagging Taylor Swift then I’m sorry, he’s a “has been”
i dont get it, the guy hasn't got a god given right to win...he makes mistakes the same as every other rider, either under pressure or at the limit. today he made a mistake..
