Mini panigalle ? Thinking of changing my 848 in a couple of months to a corse se but have heard a whisper about a 900 panigalle,in a dilemma now,I have been looking forward to getting a corse for quite a while now and being known as a man who can't wait for anything I don't know if I can wait that long, unless of course they are bringing it out this year, does anyone have any more info
Don't think there's anything official on a new "mini" Panigale, only people guessing there my be, or hoping so at least. My guess is there'll be one in time but I don't think it'll be this year. Unless someone else knows better.
I reckon 2014 but i would be surprised if its a 900cc. There have been rumours of going back to 749 or 799cc as otherwise it might take too many sales from the 1199 Pani.
This seems to be the main consensus - a 750cc Panigale based bike - but who knows? It seems that the Corse is the run-out model for the 848 but the dealers I spoke to last year thought that then, and it's still going this year too. I wouldn't have thought anything other than a 750 makes much sense. They can race it in Supersport and it's different enough to the 1199 to appeal to different buyers and avoid an overlap in the range. I loved the 848 when I rode it so I ordered a Corse and if they change at the end of this year, I'm not fussed as it's an 848 I want.
Now you say that....but many will say its no where near enough... ;-) Personally its all I can manage
But thats like saying the 848 stole too many sales from 1198. There are people who simply cant afford or cant handle a litre+ bike as so they get something small. But of those there are some that want more than a 600 and so it is these people who will look for the middle ground. Just look at the GSXR750, still going strong after all the years and now costs shy of 10k when the 1000 costs shy of 12k..........so there`s no way it could steal buyers away unless deep down they know they cant/shouldnt have a 1199.
ever bought atop of the range TV,computer, designer clothing etc etc only to see a month or two its, A) been replaced by something so much newer and B) the thing you bought is crap in comparison and even if you still would have bought it, its now at a cut due to them wanting to shift stock? If your thinking of getting a new bike as in Spankers new then wait out. 1) you can put away a little more dollar toward getting a new bike/kit/insurence and 2) the new model will be better, newer tech and have more longevity in terms of gucci parts and hold value. Even if u get the corse se and stand fast saying, I love it and I would want the new model, everyone including yourself will look at yours parked next to the new model and all will glance over yours as old even if u got it in the same month and secretly you`l wise that you waited because if u did u could have at least had the CHOICE between the 2 rather than having to settle, and instantly ur now old bike will loose a lot of value. Its like last seasons football shirt. Just wait, soon there will be drip fed info about it and it will get ur juices flowing. if you still want the se then get it but at least "look at what you could have won"
Sorry cant agree with that at all, which is why 916, 999 etc sales are still strong; not everyone wants the latest greatest. Some of us are drawn to the new fresh stuff, but actually most arent; they may think 'ooo thats pretty' normally followed by 'but I prefer mine'
Great insight, it's strange how I look at and ride other stuff, and get back on mine and think, I don't want anything else. Most people see a rattly old 748, I see a bike I love as much as, if not more than, the day that I bought it. Wouldn't part with it for the world. Like the idea of a pani 899 tho, sounds right somehow ....
there will always be a strong second hand market for bikes folk grew up loving, wanting, idolizing, never afford a new bike so second hand is the only option but im talking about a man who has the money for a brand new bike. A brand new bike be it the last of that model or the first of this model and so based solely on that, nothing else, I think the only advice that should be given and heeded is to wait and see what the new one looks like...............unless you could afford to either go by it also or would trade it straight back in to up grade. You cant argue then logic
I love my gsxr 1000, bought it new and tricked it up. I cant sell it cos its mine, i made it and its the best iv seen around...fact. It is this exact reason why instead of selling/part exchanging I kept it and got the pani also. ( so I know exactly what you say and mean. I am not denying it and if I did id be a hypocrite ) but now I have the pani it puts into perspective how things have moved on, my gsxr is 08 plate and now is getting old in terms of new fancy bits. Even though tyhe gixxer is amazing, every time im on the duke and i come home on the pani I feel inside a guilt, a guilt akin to me having just been out with my new, young, sexy little italian bit on the side when I see my good old faithful, slightly over weight love of my life sat loyally at home waiting for me in the garage. IM TALKING ABOUT THE BIKES HERE LOL. So there you have it, kinda talking from experience. Not saying old isnt good but you need to try before you buy
I wouldn't call Corse SE old tho...monoblocks, quick shifter, DTC, ally tank, ohlins...latest model of engine available.
See now your just being pedantic. Technically no its not old but if something replaces another thing, it becomes old or if you like the new one becomes better. This argument is in its self, he already has an 848 so to get an 848 corse se 848 is to get a better 848 even though it is practically the same bike. Pani R came after the standard,ABS,S,Tri. it doesnt detract anything from these BUT it is newer and it is better BUT it is practically the same bike. Prime example was when they replaced the 1098 with the 1198.......case closed
Lol so yours is the only opinion then ;-) and no pedant here...its relevant because the OP is looking at the latest kit now, which in 2 yrs may or may not be superseded by the 899 or whatever. He is actually doing what you are: comparing his current 848 with the latest Evo and coming up with the same conclusion; he'd like the new one Its not for me, you, or anyone else to tell him what to do, or indeed offer firm advice as no one seems to know if a new smaller capacity one is coming; its assumed as it normally does. 1098/1198 is irrelevant as the Panigale is NOT an update of the 1198, its a new model, so will the smaller one be. but hey thats my opinion, the OP can do what he likes and theres nothing wrong with buying a new Corse SE if thats what he wants
