No way Germany, the big industrial member of the EU buying Russian gas. But Russia is evil. I was sure the EU army was to protect us from Trump.
Funny thing, under the eu agreement when we wanted to leave, we had a right to leave on our own fruition by launching article 50. In the proposed agreement May is trying to push, if we cannot reach an agreement in regards to Northern Ireland that BOTH sides are happy with during the transition period and they then go onto the backstop, there is no legal process within this agreement , like article 50, that allows us to leave unless the eu agrees to it. So the minute you agree this proposal, we are locked into the eu and it's rules/european court until the eu wants to let us go
yes.. and to be locked in to the EU and to not be at the table is the worst case scenario, just as the taller, slimmer, better dressed, and seemingly more intelligent Johnson brother was driving at. anyway politics is boring - importantly is this going to make Ducati bikes and parts more expensive due to weak pound and potentially higher duties?
Angry or what? Me yes, like hell I’m angry. May has crossed her own red lines. The government has not delivered its own manifesto pledges So what exactly does £39 billion buy us? .. We don’t have control of our own fisheries .. We lose the ability to negotiate our own trade deals .. Oh yes, The City of London is safe, because of “Equivalency” well that’s only for thirty days anyway, that’s the amount of notice the EU must give before foreclosing on bankers. Etc, etc The Governments own £9m leaflet that dropped through my door explained the dangers of leaving very very clearly, there were enough scare monger tactics warning us off but in the face of that more people voted to leave. So since when did leaving the EU become a Hard Brexit, “Leave means Leave” - doesn’t it? Looks like the amount that the U.K. has left is going to be the same ratio as the vote, 52% of our sovereignty out and 48% remaining in the EU. “No deal is better than a bad deal eh May” just go now please and let David Davis finish the job. Or let’s have another referendum, BUT only if you make it best of seven. GRRRRR. Off soapbox and breathe. Love Europe, Hate EU
I completely agree that May was a mere lightning rod who is meant to take all the damage for the Tories. A "white knight" (metaphor, not racism) would then charge in an rescue us. Tried and trusted tactics. Whether May is secretly working for Remain, or Brexit, we shall see. I am somewhat sceptical of the latter but will accept the pleasant surprise, if it transpires.
Follow up: If May is a secret agent for Brexit, the strategy shows that there was never an expectation of getting a fair deal from the EU and that No Deal was always the goal In which case, I will offer a "Well played, PM, well played".
Doubt it. It's a total clusterfuck right now. But it's been purposefully clusterfucked by May and co. She'll soon be toppled. Another remoaner will take over. Another ref will be called and it will be seen to that remoaners win this time. And we all lived happily ever after. The End. I can't see any other way out of it. Oh, and as for the 17m? Fuck em'
But if we have another vote and the vote is to remain it will be 1 all. Have to have a decider in another two years time ?
The "draft agreement" that will be discussed in Parliament today is either a damning indictment of our government's abilities and trustworthiness, or it's the result of chess game theory crafting by some extraordinarily bright thinkers. There are indications that either may be true. For instance, May has united the opinions of some Leavers and some Remainders, who would have thought that possible? Hmmm.
bad dealer therefore bad marque.... while just over a quarter of the country may never like the idea of the EU, them's the rules, she could of walked. she and previous Govs could of implement EU rules better, the EU rules the UK helped create, and avoided most of the reasons many wanted to leave in the first place. whats all this talk of secret brexit spies and undercover shenanigans?. get a grip. nothing new going on here, this is your Gov, you vote for, in your Parliament, in your electoral system, the one you want to be 100% sovereign doing what its always done. not so funny or tinhat when it impacts directly on yourselves? well, welcome to the party, but yer 63years late. that was the last time we trusted a conservative party enough to deliver. it took another 50odd to realize the opposition is just the other cheek of the same arse. i cant even say its amusing watching yous wake up to the fact.
Leave or half leave. The problem we will be left with is OUR politicians. And yes, obviously the EU, who will try and make unified Europe stronger, politically and economically. Who will have the most negotiating power ? The UK has always been in a position to say no the EU. In the same way Italy, Austria, Hungary have gone against their directive. Weak governance from the UK has always been the issue. Far better to have in fighting between Labour and Tory than address the bigger problems of running the country properly. On occasions it has fitted in nicely with the bigger picture to say, cant do that...because of the EU. To maintain real influence you need to be in it. Too think we could simply just walk out after the vote in 2016, but at the same time nothing change...is naive in the extreme. No alternative trade agreements in place, no re negotiations on joint ventures. No tax revenue/import duties on goods agreed....a simpletons view tbh.
You make a good point and it's worth everyone taking 3 mins to re-read that leaflet. I get very fed up with the Remainers stating that nobody knew and we were never told.... https://assets.publishing.service.g...ean-union-is-the-best-decision-for-the-uk.pdf Voting to leave the EU would create years of uncertainty and potential economic disruption. This would reduce investment and cost jobs. The Government judges it could result in 10 years or more of uncertainty as the UK unpicks our relationship with the EU and renegotiates new arrangements with the EU and over 50 other countries around the world. Some argue that we could strike a good deal quickly with the EU because they want to keep access to our market. But the Government’s judgement is that it would be much harder than that – less than 8% of EU exports come to the UK while 44% of UK exports go to the EU. No other country has managed to secure significant access to the Single Market, without having to: • follow EU rules over which they have no real say • pay into the EU • accept EU citizens living and working in their country A more limited trade deal with the EU would give the UK less access to the Single Market than we have now – including for services, which make up almost 80% of the UK economy. For example, Canada’s deal with the EU will give limited access for services, it has so far been seven years in the making and is still not in force.
Told, yes. But why do so many Leavers and Tory Brexiteers try and claim the complete opposite to the above? You say WE were told, and yet we are promised that it os going to be better. Which is it?
Anyway, the argument boils down to whether one is a de facto globalist, a nationalist or one has no idea what one is actually talking about. Hmm. Or you're an incomprehensible ABTFE loon. Choose wisely now!
