There's one girl there that when she rings me asks if she can practice her French? Er, yes. What time would you like to swing by?
Ha ha ha, you get what you pay for. I ran out of money halfway through so there's still a full 'tache and beard under the scarf!
I know this is an old ish thread, but my 999r is the series 2 #023- MY05. It has manufacturing date marks on various components, most show 2004 such as the wheels and some aluminium ancillaries, but the sand cast engine cases and Ohlins parts have 2005 stamps. It was also registered in April 2005.
It will have the month and year of manufacture on the plaque there were MY03 04 05 06 and no series 2 though - yours will likely be a MY05
The date on the plaque says September 2004, but the engine is defo 2005. Everything matches, and it is a series 2. It has the newer engine, newer fairing with just the two holes and has some nice Factory Ducati Corse parts. But oddly, it has temperature in degree F and not degree C. It’s an Italian market model Sold at Mario Manzo in Rome May 2005
I wouldn’t stress if I were you, you look happy enough. It’s a Ducati from the mid 2000’s. Mine is #290, grey frame, black swingarm, later fairing, all the carbon bits, no mag engine covers, first registered (not for road) in 2006 etc. etc. It seems that whatever they had kicking about at the time! I love it, it’s easily the most special of my bikes. Here it is getting wrapped up for winter.
September is about when the motor manufacturers start building the next years model - so yes quite possibly a model year 05 - but not a Series 2 as there wasn't such a designation - it's the 3rd model year so Series 3 if you wish nice bike
