I would always prefer the cheapest bike TBH. As long as its as good as the most expensive bike. I just cannot realistically see where a mini Pani will fit in the market and how Ducati could make it for less than £12k. I'd like to see Ducati use the 800cc engine from the new Hypermotard, put it in a sportsbike, tune it up a bit, loose some weight and that could be a cracking road bike.
The 848 will have to be replaced, not only because the bigger version is no longer there but also simply timeline of model. Whether its a full change, ala Panigale type, or a major revision is probably top of he design and marketing agendas in Bologna. Maybe they will jump a model; replace when the Panigale goes?!
1199 would be wasted on me. Same as a 1198 was when I rode one. The 848 is the best road bike in my opinion so I guess it's replacement would be even better. Plus the added insurance would be too much to stomach too
It's an interesting thought but the way that Ducati have built the new 821cc engine (at 88mm x 67.5mm) looks like they've adjusted the stroke ratio (1.303:1) to move the maximum torque of the engine down the rev curve, making it less peaky and more driveable from lower down compared to the 848 engine (at 94 x 61.2 @ 1.536:1). I doubt we will see a "tuned" version of this engine because that's what the 848 already is...
BHP is never wasted on you! The more you have, the harder you are and the more women fancy you  I need me a panigale aaaaaarrrrrrrrrrggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhh
An alternative view could be, NO replacement fo the 848 at all. Leaving the Panigale as the only Superbike in the range, Works for BMW:wink: Superbike sales are falling World wide, and Ducati have a vast range of multi purpose bikes now, which is the growing market! So my choice would be go for the Corse SE, I did
plus that's 2 production lines knocking out 2 different super bike models, baby Pani model would be able to share the same line
Stupid is different to just not taking care with spelling. I should know, I get some ridiculous attempts at my last name. All it takes is some attention.
