  1. A ban is likely - defo get a lawyer. agtlaw (username on pistonheads) seems to be popular to help with these sorts of things - touch wood i've never been caught at warp speeds so it's not a personal recommendation. http://www.counsel.direct he provides a free telephone consultation for new customers too. can't hurt to give him a call?

And you're looking at a max £1k fine too - (£2.5K had you been on a motorway)

  2. Had a week ban for 106.

Got my manager to write a letter saying that driving was part of my job.

Went on a 2 week foreign holiday the day after court :)

  10. Unfortunately yes it did....

  11. I got busted on A65 doing 97 by a copper with speed gun. Luckily just got away with 3 points and £60 fine. The A65 is rife with police. If you you're thinking of doing a bank job in N Yorkshire, do it on a Sunday morning because the entire force are manning the road to and from Devils Bridge just looking to bust bikers.

  12. You're probably best off taking the ban. I doubt it'll be over 28 days as long as you're sniveling skills are up to spec. I think a ban will knock your points clock back to zero?? I think I heard that from a mate?? Check it out. If you don't take the ban you're sure to get 6 points and a muhassive fine....

  13. IMO best option and probably only chance is to find out if the speed limit is actually legal or not.

Are there street lights for example, if so what spacing? If it was originally a Restricted Road (30mph) then the limit of 60mph has to have been imposed by Order - if the wrong section/order of the Road Traffic Regulations Act was used, then the limit isn't legal.

You would have to get someone to get a copy of the Order from Highways to find out.

Again, were the entry and terminal road signs (National Speed limit - white circle/diagonal black bar) in place and visible?

Did the police officer / camera operator check the limit before they set up the camera and start enforcement? - because they are supposed to.

Get evidence if you can (but don't ask Plod questions) and get a solicitor.

I'm not advocating that you weren't actually speeding because whatever limit you were in, you were way over the top - but if you can prove that something on the Authorities side wasn't legal..........it is basically what Mr Loophole looks for.

    I know about this because I have done it - 45 in a 30.

  15. Doh!!

  16. I'm fairly sure 99% if not higher realize that 100mph or triple figures is not legal bud. Unless this is on the isle of man at a certain time of year on the mountain sections or German autobahns. But please if there is anywhere else in Europe that allows 100mph or higher fire it at me I'm all ears (excluding toll roads ie: The ring)!!

  17. He'll still have to inform his insurance for the 4year duration points last on the license (3-years showing on license but one extra blind so the insurance companies can rinse more mullah). As well as inform them about been disqualified from driving.

Frankly now that he's had time to settle into whats potentially going to happen. This is the worst time of the year to be speeding or doing triple figures as the police are well aware. That the 'season' is changing and lots & lots of bikers are not going to be riding for many months. So some are out for one last blast!

  18. What I am sayin' is that if the speed limit isn't legal for whatever reason or the correct procedures weren't followed in setting up the enforcement camera, or even if the wording on the NIP/Summons isn't correct, then the NIP is void and so is the camera evidence. It is exactly how Loophole works his cases.

In other words, if evidence has been obtained not lawfully it is not admissible in court.

  19. i would support the advice on getting a solicitor,
i have been caught many times and i think its always worth pushing a few notes in the hand of legal representation, to basically test the process that has been used to attempt to convict you. here in Germany its the norm, as mistakes do happen, on both sides.
i had a road side picture take and sent to my home address, 40ish in a 30 or so, and as i have a RHD car in germany still it was a picture of the passenger.
so i called, made them aware that the picture was of my passenger and they withdrew it... so far so good :)
back in the 90s i was arrested doing 100+ down the north Devon link road ( took him 12 miles to catch up with me doh!) i got a solicitor and settled with a 6 point and 200 pound fine.. and promptly left the country ...

  20. Thanks for all the replies and advice, BTW on the NIP there was no photo, but the Reg number was correct obviously, I'm assuming there was another plod in the front taking numbers.
