1098 Info On 1098r

  1. Your opinion folks, please
I came across a 1098R, but does not have the limited serial number on the head stock. Will post some pic in a min. I kinda think it is an original R. The ECU comes up with 1098R. It has a full Akropovix set of pipes + headers. and carbon wheels. so not the original Termi pipes or forged wheels. Its has 15k kilometers on it
    Question:
Is this valued less that an original article and by how much..?

  2. and some pics IMG-20181122-WA0001.jpg IMG-20181122-WA0001.jpg IMG-20181122-WA0002.jpg IMG-20181122-WA0003.jpg IMG-20181122-WA0005.jpg

  3. Don't think the 1098r's were actually numbered mate they just had 1098r stamped on the top yoke.

  4. Other way to check is look at the steering damper bolt hole it should bolt onto the frame not welded on.

  5. Just check Engine Number and Frame Number with the Ducati factory here:

  6. OK I can check up on the originality of the bike
But having non original pipes and carbon wheels,,,does this devalue the bike?

  7. No it's still a 1098r still worth good money

  8. Depends on what you want to do with it. If collecting, the lack of original equipment is an issue. If buying to ride, you are unlikely to lose money if the purchase price is right. Not sure if South Africa has the same collectors’ bug as the UK. Can’t imagine there being many where you are so scarcity value might be quite high. For comparison, in the UK the 1098R owners are currently asking for between 2 and 3 times that for a 1098S and about twice that for an 1198S. 1098R/1198SP are about the same money. Andy

  9. Yes, if you are looking for future value. No if you just want ti ride and won a great bike. IMO

  10. I am sure that numbered yokes were for the yank market

  13. Correct. Yank bikes looked like this, numbered to 450. A few escaped into other markets.

    Bayliss Bikes were traditionally numbered.
