Because its a British overseas territory, where does it come into eu property for discussion ? Just Spain having a last minute dig again.
""We decide on something, leave it lying around and wait and see what happens. If no one kicks up a fuss, because most people don't understand what has been decided, we continue step by step until there is no turning back," he said of the euro's introduction. In May 2011, he told a meeting of the federalist European Movement that he often “had to lie” and that eurozone monetary policy should be discussed in “secret, dark debates”. He also sparked controversy by suggesting that the eurozone economic policy was incompatible with democracy. “We all know what to do, we just don't know how to get re-elected after we've done it,” Mr Juncker cynically quipped last year. Mr Juncker was also closely linked to the EU constitution, before the French referendum on it in 2005 he predicted, correctly, that Europe would ignore any popular rejections. “If it's a Yes, we will say 'on we go', and if it's a No we will say 'we continue’,” he said." https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/wo...vrN-Gbbp0-ZQKtxzdpVyk9AJTwl-HwYhVRkh5AaLL09-A
Spain uses Gibraltar in the same way Argentina uses the Falklands, sabre rattling for a diversion. This time it's "What about Gibraltar?" and translated from Spanish to English gives you "wtf you mean we can't fish in your waters no more?"
Any advise that helps me understand it all I am open to. Most of it seems to just be - it’s going to be a disaster when we leave. I’m interested to know why ? Edit: For the record I didn’t vote as I couldn’t make up my mind at the time. I now think leaving is the right thing to do. Happy for someone to convince me otherwise, even though it makes no difference now.
IST all about loss for EU, and reducing it. UK does well = less contribution revenue, less tax revenue (don’t we collect tariffs for Brussels..), less tax revenue (more competition leans less EU product sold around the world from other countries), other countries (Italy, Spain, Greece, Netherlands) all saying ‘hold on——yes please’ and pushing for exit. It must not happen. At any cost.
Brexit is the UK's battle between globalists and nationalists. It's being waged as if it were a battle over economic stability but that is a smokescreen. The real battle is between folk who believe in the nation state and national identity ... and those who want a globalist government which ignores the idea of borders and nationality. If you consider what the UN Migration Pact means to the ideas of indigenous culture and national identity, you will see that it dovetails nicely with the EU project. If you believe in a New World Order where policies are designed by committees and voted on by elected officials (and voted and voted and voted, if the right answer isn't supplied the first time, as evidenced by Juncker et al), you have nothing to fear from either Remain, or May's "deal". If you prefer borders, traditional values, and the public having direct access to the folks who run the government, you should choose Brexit. Talk of financial hardship and meltdown is ephemeral to this discussion. In any event, the EU, or a NWO, is not proof against financial setbacks occurring.
Are cars the main 'product' that's going to be affected ? I'd have thought they will still want to sell them and we will still want to buy them
Yep, if push comes to shove, business will over ride the eu. They know that if they lose their slot within our market, they at first lose that income and secondly they know once a non eu country gets that business "we used to be buddies" won't get them that business back. As Loz mentioned, the economics of brexit in someways is a sideshow distraction as business will always do business.
But the way most brexiteers were going on you would think the German car industry was about to die and that they would hold a gun to Merkels head to ensure we got a no strings attached free trade deal. That’s not how big German companies work. They don’t give a a feck what we do. The price will be the same and they will be lower spec
Ok. Originally I was asking what will be difficult to import and export, see post #6792. But would people still buy them if they were lower spec, or look to other manufacturers that supply the spec they want ?
