Well yesterday SWMBO took me to the Black Swan in Oldstead in North Yorkshire (owned and run by Tommy Banks) which has been proclaimed the best restaurant in the world by trip advisor. And I have to say I must agree with them! When I looked at the taster menu online a couple of weeks ago I thought there was nothing there I liked. I didn’t change my mind when I saw it officially when we arrived. How wrong was I? It was fantastic! It’s definitely the best meal I have ever had. How you can get the flavours and textures of what I would consider strangely put together ingredients to taste like they did is nothing short of alchemy! For example one of the desserts was listed as “potato and chicory”...........well it neither looked nor tasted like either, and it was just sublime! I will post a copy of the menu later and give more details then in case you fancy treating someone special as I’m presently at in bed staying at a friends house up north after we went to my best friends surprise 50th birthday party last night. Which was also a great night! Ps Tommy Banks was in the kitchens yesterday and popped out just to say hello to everyone in the restaurant.
The menu didn’t look appetising to me at all but I can honestly say it was fantastic. I’d urge you to try it if you can. Well worth £95 per head for the food.
Just been and done a few miles on the ol mv to see someone. Bit cold when the figures on the dash rise but at least I had the heat from the engine which still managed to reach 112 degrees centigrade at traffic lights lol. Good old hot runners these f4’s
