After a years ownership of my Rsv4 factory i've decided to trade it in for a 1198S, having owned a Yellow 999S previous to the Ape i miss the booming V twin motor and unique noise ,feel and everything else that Ducati's have in abundance...i decided on a 1198s because i like the fact that its the last of the trellis framed bikes and the Pani's dont really do it for me, so since i blagged a ride on my mates bike in the summer i've basically been waiting for the right one to turn up, it has and i collect it on saturday...cant wait...pics will follow.
Bike duly arrived this morning ,shame it was pissing it down, hope its dry tomorrow so i can go for a quick blast down the bypass...
1198's are simply awesome machines. Looks like you've both done well bagging one whilst demand for them seems to be on the up Just make sure you get out on them, give the throttle some respect and enjoy them!
Still pissing down as i write this...While the Aprilia was a really nice bike i just never got that feeling of 'specialness' when i first opened the garage door to it, and yes decent 1198S's do seem a bit thin on the ground at the moment, i'v been looking for the right one to come along for a few months....just ordered a pair of DB killers for mine ,the 70mm slash cut termi's are ear bleedingly LOUD....Neighbours will be complaining!
A week later and i still haven't ridden it due to work and weather, not had a dry day yet, i'm tempted to ride it anyway but its near mint and it would be criminal to get it shitted up...why the f@ck did i decide to buy it in December...roll on spring!
Finally got chance of a short ride on the beast this afternoon, the roads werent as dry as i thought though and pulling out of my street the back tyre briefly lost grip...cold tyres on a slightly greasy road i suppose, anyway it got my sphincter twitching and slowed me down loads making me realise that this bike needs treating with LOTS of respect , you can almost feel the power there latently waiting to be unleashed, only took it up and down the road ,about a mile in total but its whetted my appetite for more...like i said earlier Roll on spring!
