  4. Ha ha, sadly the latest financial damage had been done at that point. Reading the positive reports just helped me convince myself I'd 'done the right thing'

I had a drop later, I was drinking tea at that point so I could concentrate....

  12. 7ECB8DE6-E8BE-4D1A-B784-CE6AEB98B920.jpeg This evening I had a 10 year old whiskey from my local distiller, West Cork Distillers. Irish obviously. Named after the first President of Ireland, Douglas Hyde.

    Tasting notes: it was OK.

Set me back 6.50€ and I think the barman used the wrong measure, but then again he was standing in for the owner at short notice and I didn’t have the heart to tell him.

Would I buy it again? No. It’s just OK, didn’t rock my boat.

Small bottle and big glass or big glass and regular bottle? You decide.

Anyway, Teeling Single Malt. Very pale in colour but much smoother and better than the 10yr old Hyde.

Teeling is a long established distiller in Dublin, re-established a few years back. Most of their produce goes to the USA where it sells by the case load. However, if you come across it it’s worth trying IMO.

  14. Steady there Paul! I hope you didn't go on a whiskey bender and start bricking your own windows.... from inside

  16. That's a new one on me, thanks. Having tried to check it out on the map, is that a Highland or a Speyside?

  17. I think that's why people struggle with whiskey, it's all the old shit, they should try drinking something newer, you wouldn't eat a 10 year old hamburger :D
