British Indy: What Happens Now?

?
  1. Full Brexit with "no EU deal" on the 29th March.

  2. Request Extension to article 50 to allow a general election and new negotiations.

  3. Request Extension to article 50 to allow cross party talks and a new deal to be put to EU.

  4. Request Extension to article 50 to allow a second referendum on 1. Remain in EU or 2. Full Brexit.

  5. Table a motion in parliament to Remain in EU WITHOUT a referendum.

  6. I don't know or I don't care anymore

Results are only viewable after voting.
  1. Me ? I'd go for the second one, but I'm lazy that way.
I wonder if politicians start off wanting to be responsible for the country, but end end taking the easy option ?

That would be fun, not sure about the admiration bit for me though.

  2. I'd agree with that, but remaining in the EU won't help either will it ?
Better to leave then our politicians more accountable to us (or something like that) ?

  3. What's the difference?

Country has say £100 of income from tax and £110 of outgoings. Its Income and Expenditure account reads -£10.

They say to Company 1 that they can pay £10 less tax this year as a tax break. Govt now receives £90 of income and still has outgoings of £110. Its I&E now reads -£20.

Who makes up the difference? Oh yes mugs like us.

  4. Politicians do not see themselves as accountable to us.

Their priorities are in this order - Themselves, their party and those who fund their party.

  5. Same goes for the EU / Euro mps I think.
So if we leave the EU we have less of them to worry about.

  6. Have you looked at how the EU crucified Greece and is currently about to try and deal with Italy's budget? I'm not a fan of the May Government but if you look at unemployment, inflation, borowing, etc. we are actually in pretty good shape to waether a storm for 6-9 months. Even the banks all met there stress tests by the BOE.

  11. Usually you agree a tax break thru a difficult time so that later when the good times come you then recoup more tax later, from a business thats still in business.

so less £10 now but looking towards + £20 later. Rather than lose the business completely i.e.- £100.

  12. Run Forest, Run

  13. In which time, this Company has set up their tax systems so that they pay NO tax in the UK. Or they continue to use the blackmail to say that 'you gave us a tax break before, now we want another to stay' Just like JLR are doing now.

  14. So the EU are going to stop all that ?

  15. Weird given how often duke says go after the multinationals avoiding tax, but continues to use JLR as a reason NOT to leave the eu.

  16. I think for me, it's basically not going to get any better if we stay in the EU and might get better if we leave, even if it takes a while. Probably do us all good to struggle for a bit.

  17. On the Irish border, which is a technical issue that has been allowed to become a political one.

The Irish say they won't enforce a hard border, the eu say they won't enforce a hard border, the northern irish say they won't enforce a hard border and the U.K. government says they won't enforce a hard border. so why is this an issue that can't be solved ?

Also the chequers deal is likely to fail and free trade/wto is now looking more likely, that means neither the eu or the republic of Ireland have a say in any border so we will do as we want anyway which is likely to be some favoured nation and advanced anpr system much as we have now in other areas.

It seems therefore that the irish question is more a mental block than a real one.

  18. There's a lot of people struggling out there now and have been for a long time by design of present and previous governments grip on keeping the masses on their knees, its only when the middle / upper classes feel their lifestyles are going to be affected all this debate takes place, strange innit ? Democracy bah...
