Kevlar Jeans - Recommendations?

Discussion in 'Clothing, Gadgets & Equipment' started by Berry, Jan 26, 2018.

  1. I have just bought a pair of Roadskin Paranoid jeans. They are fully kevlar/aramid lined from the waist to the bottom of the legs. The denim is medium to heavy weight, deffo a lot thicker than your normal wear jeans. Enough pockets for me. I got the latest impact armour for hips and knees.

They are extremely comfortable and you dont actually feel like you have the armour installed. It can of course be removed. Quick heads up as well, they are on special offer over the TT week, a fair bit cheaper than any realistic similar competition.

  2. I had a dainese Union evo but wasn't massively impressed, as it felt bulky over a belt and limited to black.

So I sold the evo and with the money bought a dainese 360 zip and had this sewn onto my jeans at a local tailor (she adjusted the belt loops up aswell).

I was very happy with the result.

  3. Sorry I didn’t ‘save’ you in time... yes pretty poor quality for Dainese kit, which is rather surprising. And a total rip off at 35 quid...

Still, works a treat and I have it now... for how long we shall see...

  4. Wore my new Rokker jeans on the bike over the weekend. Very happy with them, a massive improvement on the Hood jeans I bought some years back. Felt comfortable on and off the bike. Armour unobtrusive and securely located (the slim fit helps there). Nice and cool on the move and not particularly heavy when walking. Build quality is reassuring and they do look pretty stylish if I say so myself. The Hoods were pretty awful in this respect.

  6. Re-reading this for some inspiration for the new year sales.

  7. I’d still go with hoods.

  8. Have been down the road (fluid on surface) in my Draggin jeans at about 70km/h with one leg/boot pinned underneath bike. No abrasions. They were about 5 years old at the time. A+

  9. Road Skinz, now have two pairs and likely won’t stop there.

  10. Have Hood, good but bulky and heavy, riding with these in summer is like wearing a Duvet.
Going to look at the new single woven stuff this year, it's costly but worth it.
I see that it's hard to find a standard that they all conform too, I know the abrasion test is out there but like the sharp tests for helmets it really isn't that useful for things like fit, connectivity and durability and real life crash scenarios.

  11. I like my single layer Rokker Rokkertech jeans. Comfortable, even with D3O armour at knees and hips, on and off the bike, in a range of temperatures. Have yet to test them for real, hope I never have to. But their anti perforation guarantee and the proven D3O armour is reassuring. Did a European tour in them last summer, it rained most of the time whilst the UK had a heatwave . Still comfortable under over trousers though.

Granted they are expensive but they are, IMHO, cut well and look like decent regular fashion jeans. Bought a pair for my girlfriend too along with a Rokker jacket. She loves both and if I say so myself she looks sensational in them :p:D

  13. You'd be lucky, for my own private collection only :D

At 6' tall and slim she's difficult at the best of times to find kit for but with the range of sizes on offer from Rokker through Motolegends we managed to find a great fit without having to compromise with any particular sizing dimension.

  15. +1 on the Rokker jeans, great fit and comfortable. How relevant the slide times are I'm not sure, but having nothing else to go by I've used that as a criteria. Mine have a slide time of 6seconds but Motolegends now sell a pair with an 11second slide time.

  16. I bought a pair of Rokker Revolutions last year from Motolegends and they were great . I rode from Devon to Surrey for 3 hours in pouring rain and got home bone dry . I used them for 2 months in the hot summer we just had as a courier , so nearly 8000 miles and they were great until it rained with a resulting wet crotch . Took them back to Motolegends and they sent them off for testing which they failed so they replaced them foc . In hindsight I should of bought the non waterproof Rokkertech jeans as I do a lot of miles and the waterproofing is going to wear out on any brand I wear . Also the Rokkertech is single layer and better for hot summer riding . The Rokkertech also has a longer slide time the REvolutions . Motolegends has lots of articles on lined jeans and I recommend reading them or going to their shop to try them on .

  17. The waterproof Rokker Revolutions have a cooling/heating effect in summer/winter something to with the molecules of the fabric which works really well . It feels weird in cold weather when you feel the heat in your legs that you don't have on your upper body . Very hot or cold conditions will negate this effect to nothing .

  18. I've just bought some Bull-IT SR6 Italian slim fit, not been down the road in them but they are comfy and look quite good on and were heavily discounted here https://www.sportsbikeshop.co.uk/motorcycle_parts/content_prod/237044. I found a lot of the other jeans bulky and didn't look very good when on, which totally defeated the object of what I wanted.

  19. Any advice, off topic, on decent leather pants. I don't want to look like a village person, would prefer black, longlasting, slimmish fit and comfy
Not too worried about price, though I'd obviously rather spend more than less
