British Indy: What Happens Now?

?
  1. Full Brexit with "no EU deal" on the 29th March.

  2. Request Extension to article 50 to allow a general election and new negotiations.

  3. Request Extension to article 50 to allow cross party talks and a new deal to be put to EU.

  4. Request Extension to article 50 to allow a second referendum on 1. Remain in EU or 2. Full Brexit.

  5. Table a motion in parliament to Remain in EU WITHOUT a referendum.

  6. I don't know or I don't care anymore

Results are only viewable after voting.
  1. I think most of the leavers voted to leave the EU, that's what it said on the ballot paper! it didn't say anything about a deal.

  3. Absolutely.

Lots of talk about how Norway and Switzerland were doing just fine and we should be like them

  4. No they didn’t

  5. ffs.

  6. Johnson and co were all saying that we would get a great deal because they needed us more then we needed them and that Germany wanted to sell us BMWs.

Well that didn't work out and we now know it just wasn't true.

Do we really have to continue with a crappy negotiated deal because that's all we could get?

No we don't, now we know for sure the deal we already have is way better than the negotiated settlement, we can simply stick with what we already have.

  7. Oh yes they did - they were touting Norway and Switzerland as shining examples of the way we should go.

  8. see Fin's post above if you need reminding

  9. Not in the same context as now. Negotiated deal, with reciprocal trade arrangement.

  10. Your'e as bad as the MP's you just don't get it, the country voted out, WE DON'T LIKE THE DEAL WE ALREADY HAVE WITH THE EU.

  11. Quite so because, armed with the referendum result, the eurosceptics decided we needed a hard Brexit and TM felt the need to appease them with Brexit means wrecks it.
So Norway and Switzerland got forgotten as being too soft and a tougher settlement was fought for.
We now have the results of those negotiations and NOBODY likes them, so back to square one...

  12. Even if the backstop is implemented.

  13. Just over half of those who voted, voted out.
Given that, if we do leave, it should be the softest Brexit possible in order to carry those who didn't vote for it along and avoid bitter divisions

  14. Yes I agree she has got to try and please everyone, isn't that what her deal is trying to do ? but no one will accept it. Another vote won't solve anything as it will most likely split the nation even more, what's the point in voting if the loosing side wont accept the result.

  15. What the losing side is really bitter about is the Brexit means wrecks it scenario with extreme brexiters like Rees Mogg pushing for an extreme Brexit and TM trying to appease them.
If TM had said the vote is for leave but it's not a big majority, so we need to pursue a very soft Brexit I think it would have been accepted much more readily.
The constant claim that there was a 'clear' majority really rankles because it's just not true.

  16. I think you’re right there, but what is a clear majority?

  17. There was much much more negativity spouted by the establishment about leaving so you cannot really use any of this as a pro argument for 'what if we knew everything when we voted' :bucktooth:

  18. Transition and backstop is still in the EU. We will pay funds in. We will be subject to their court proceedings.

Even the most blinkered must see that.

If it’s as described, of course. And the funniest thing running at the moment is bbc doing this ‘fact check’ segment where thy dress their opinions up as fact.

  19. way to sensible btw.

  20. It’s no wonder this country is fucked tho. All these negative U.K. attitudes and those happy to abdicate responsibility to others.
