Have you read what Patel suggested? “This paper appears to show the government were well aware Ireland will face significant issues in a no-deal scenario. Why hasn’t this point been pressed home during negotiations? There is still time to go back to Brussels and get a better deal.” Do you think that if food shortages did happen in Eire that this would promote good feelings towards the UK from the Irish?
So its Neither real, nor from Brexit, which is as much as ca be seen from the OP’s link without subscription. I couldn’t tell if the posted link was tongue in cheek or not.
I'm going to guess you didn't go back and read the deliberate twisting of what she said then? Because it suits your agenda? When the threats of food stocking and medicine stocking were being thrown at brexiteers seeking the free trade/wto option, it was pointed out that it would be if the eu started twatness at the docks it would not only impact the U.K. but would also effect the roi as 80% of their export/import traffic goes through U.K. ports From that, some daft twat remainers have tried to turn that clear observation into "the british and the irish famine" such is the desperation of those who would push such a silly and offensive narrative. If you go back to the posts I mentioned, you will see it covered.
I followed your link to the comment to a dissmissive coment from Loz. Patel said very clearly the following “This paper appears to show the government were well aware Ireland will face significant issues in a no-deal scenario. Why hasn’t this point been pressed home during negotiations? There is still time to go back to Brussels and get a better deal.” Now if you don't find this type of statement objectionable just say so?
I'd rather see the full article and not the context some have tried to promote as an irish famine which of course it is not. More likely it was a, the eu would not play silly feckers at the borders and hold back food deliveries as it would effect the irish more than anyone, so we should call their bluff. Highlighting a theory the eu have misjudged is not the same as let the irish suffer, only a biased idiot would think that comment meant harm to ireland.
Fin. Once the eu has resolved this either way, they will drop the roi back into the small fish pond as they won't need a pawn any longer, you know this. We on the other hand, will always have a better friendship with Ireland, in all its shades, than the eu. If you want to hear something funny fin. On Tuesday when the vote takes place, everyone expects May to lose. Hilary Benn from the brexit committee said this morning, when that happens, we will be putting two motions forward into the house. To paraphrase, he said they are going to put a motion for a second vote, ignoring the largest democratic vote in our history and the politicians can just say, naah feck the peoples democratic majority vote second motion, is that they want any prospect of a wto/free trade removed from that vote and from parliament, so no matter what happens from this point, free trade and wto cannot be considered within a vote or by any government. That is not me scaremongering, that is available to view on BBC iplayer when Benn was on Marr this morning. We seem to be walking into a system were people need to just shut up and let the politicians who claim to know better than we do except, when they need to be voted in. This is one of the key reasons why so many wanted to leave the eu
yip, thats a paraphrase noob. defo. i think the motion is to stop the uk having the false choice leaving with a bad deal or no deal,
according to the remaining majority house of commons. WTO/free trade is a viable deal and what most voted for as the only choice that meets the vote of leaving the eu, every other choice leaves us within the eu or as a eu dependent. There are some worrying precedents being set that will come back to challenge them in the future.
Does anyone think there will be any type of disruption or protests if the politicians force another vote or cancel brexit altogether?
I think they are working on a way to cancel brexit that makes it look like they had no choice. Not sure about protests, the French are better at that. We are more likely to form an orderly queue.
yip, i'v heard this line used before, mostly by Scottish torys. (no such thing) reason being, it's becoming obvious what a proper partnership looks like.
nah, i cant see it happening, tho it would be funny to watch as yous hobble away from ra polis with yer walking sticks and zimmers. shouting" what do we want" "incontinent pants" when do we need them" NOW!.
I was planning on borrowing yours when you have finished with it - but I would have to stoop sooooo low
