hmmm... assuming that is a standard height door (6'6" or 1981) the eye wash is to high... should be at eye level for an average man... I don't know why coz if you have shit in ya eye you wont see it anyway....
Back on thread... I just started my R, first time in months after having finished replacing my starter sprag clutch today....BLIMEY....even at a standstill it feels like an animal!! Back off thread.... Can’t get all the coolant back in that I originally took out. I believe these bikes are notorious for air locks in the system. What’s the advice please?
Fairing off, bike running, massage and squeeze the pipework downstream of the water pump. Worked with Carole’s Diavel and my 853. Andy
Did that. Engine temp increased rapidly due to no coolant getting to the rad so turned it off smartish. Coolant level in overflow reservoir (where I filled it per the manual) totally unchanged from when I started it. I remember doing it on my 916 and it was a piece of piss.
That’s what I thought today. A quick action throttle, custom map, pistals and a full system make mine feel like a b**tard even at standstill. I squeeze the bottom coolant radiator hose when filling to get rid of the air.
Don’t know how that got posted as I thought I’d deleted it. 1198R Corse is an incredible bike but the better electronics make less ill tempered. Andy
I'd love to rebuild my 1198 motor and do something special with it (if I can make mind up whether to keep it of course).
I have said before and will again that I don't find the bike as face meltingly brutal as I had hoped. I realise that opinion is divided on the subject (everyone else says it is, I say it isn't) but I was hoping for a more visceral experience than that which the bike is delivering. I guess I will need to wait to try the new batch of bikes to find out if a.) as I anticipate, I truly am a god amongst mortal men, or b.) the more likely, I haven't got it turned up to 11.
i mean obviously i shouldn't say its a 1098R based motor so.. i assembled 1098RS crankcases with a 1098R crank and rods, pistals, 1098R cams and headwork, finished off with a 3 dog BST C/Ratio box.
