It makes little difference if they win or not Aprilia chucked thousands into winning last year and no one buys their bikes...
Obvious that the Aprilias have an advantage with a V4 engine and the Ducati a V Twin ( it's a V2, so should go like a rocket  ). There needs to be a 3 x 2 paving slab somewhere on the Aprilia to make it even. Isn't that the way ?
You know that Aprilia's clever electronics package APRC has an anti paving bricks setting? ;-) AP BS!!
I read top brass from HRC and Yamaha were at PI wsb. They will return next year with factory bikes.. They get shitty when a italian bike gets 1 2 3 in the opening round. My moneys on a jap bike to win wsb in 2014.
I don't really mind Aprilia winning. Still a tiny European factory, and I still feel more European than Japanese. Their racing pedigree in all racing bears no relation to their market success (which is surely modest in large capacity bikes). Good on them, when they can beat Honda, Kwacker, Suzuki (are there even any Yams running??).
I thought the bike and Carlos were doing really well upto the off. Chuffed he's ok and nothing broken. With the tyre wear factor he could've easy been on the podium. In past years with new bikes they've had a lot more testing prior to the 1st race and more bikes on the track to aquire data. Max Nuekirkner had 2 top 10 reults and he's still injured and about 1sec a lap down. Again about where I would expct him in a 1 bike non factory team.
Yes they are a tiny factory, but they have huge financial backing from Piaggio who are part middle east (oil) backed.
Jeez, one race and its a disaster! Not to mention our No. 1 rider out cold from a stupid mistake running in 4th going for 3rd at the time, the No. 2 rider didn't start due to a broken foot anyways. I can't recall the last manufacturer to sart a new season and with a new bike which won in its first race?? God BMW only had their first win last year in how many years of racing? 3-4 since they entered the series... And how much money do they have? Suzuki... Last win from them and how many new bikes have they had?
