As thrilling as it may be to ride it’s still got a gearbox and crank that’s made of cheese and it’s design was robbed from the Triumph Daytona. Not exactly the pinnacle of Ducati’s aesthetic design. A bit dull and a bit safe. But that’s what they needed at the time. A modern take on the 916. Shame Triumph beat them to it

Do you know what? In a moment of madness I traded in my 916 strada for the all new Triumph Daytona T595 way back in 1996 and received one of the launch models in black with the polished aluminium alloy frames. It was the biggest pile of two wheeled crap I have ever owned and ended up a couple of years later in the hands of a motorcycle breaker for the massive sum of 600€. I agree that the aesthetics of the 1098 series bikes are not as exciting as the 999 series but to suggest that Ducati borrowed from Triumph is laughable and akin to suggesting that CoCo Chanel was inspired by Primark!
I try not to think of them at all and I have never looked at another Triumph since. 595, 675 or 10 past 5. That was enough for me!
You must have your head up your ass. Look at the detailing, I have one of each and the 1098R doesn't even come close!
