  1. Cheeky Robin,The 996R and 998R are the same really to look at and only came in red paintwork but it is a very sexy machine but there are other contenders as well:upyeah:

Well, I know an 998R is something special but I doubt I could persuade myself to put my hand in my pocket for one..... but I have tucked away a proper genuine carbon 998R mono tail, carbon airbox and carbon air intakes to adorn this young beauty I have purchased this evening. And I kind of justify it in the 998S having a few of the 996R bit and bobs in the engine.... I want to get out and ride it, only when the sunshines on this one tho.

  5. There was a 916r but it was a race bike with a 955 engine in it.

  6. Congratulations on that bike mate. Make sure the the connector to the fuel tank is in good condition as mine failed on the way to thruxton to watch bsb and
    Caught fire. They are awesome

  9. It’s the push in connectors that go
    In the fuel pump on bottom
    Of tank.
    Plastic cracked and split. My mv has metal ones so I’m
    Assuming there was a problem with others?
    I was ok as I just stopped and got
    Off but the bike just melted away
    In a big red blob. RIP 998s

  15. MV's come fitted with plastic the same as Ducati. i have just fitted metal ones to my MV after one failed this summer.
    its a lot more cramped under an MV tank and far more prone to breaking.

  17. Hell yes, go brittle with age..... mine broke after the MOT tester lifted the tank to check it......
    Before he lifted it there was no leak....
    Good job he's a mate!

    Is there a UK outlet for these and decent DZUZ's?
    If only we had a UK man who imports decent FARKLE's?

They are made from Polyoxymethylene (commonly known as Acetal) which is a superior engineering polymer - it is however notch sensitive and also has poor UV properties, so even when hidden beneath the tank they will deteriorate in time as I don't think Ducati used a UV stabilised version of the polymer :eyes:
