For someone like me who has very little social interaction in the real world,I have found Facebook, used sensibly,is a valuable means of communicating.
I like Facebook and use it sensibly all the time. Like everything in life you have to use your own judgement about how to use it..... and don’t whine if you shared something sensitive and later regretted it. Can’t stop, I’m just off to dive into an unknown swimming pool that I can’t see because it’s too dark.
You'd be amazed what can be done with very little info and someone profile. Create a version of you to scam others, download child porn, use your profile to scam friends, destroy your reputation. Seriously, you'd be amazed. Not to mention try and hack stuff that is yours. There is plenty to be made from an average Joe. Best bet, if not using FB, is simply to disable and delete IMHO. If using it, pin down all the settings to make it as difficult as possible.
the people I know that have had their FB account hacked have been publicly available which means anyone in the world can see their FB
Deberías tener el honor de tenerme en tu pequeño foro. Tú eres, ¿cómo se dice inglés, cabezas de pene?
Espero que tu pene se vuelva negro y se caiga. tienes suerte de que te permita ser miembro de este estimado foro.
Ive got a twitter account (use it for bike related stuff, funny vids light easy watching, nothing more) i opened it about 6 or 7 years ago for a couple of weeks before assholes from school started wanting to be my friend...asshole in school....still assholes so closed it....not looked back..
I am neither interesting or famous but my account has been hacked by 'Nancy'. I don't believe that my password was taken and I'm pretty sure that there must be a security flaw with Facebook. That is bad enough but they don't let you just shut the account. There is no legitimate reason for this but it is just another example of their laid back attitude to security. I don't want to be on it and the account was only opened to to try out. I don't understand why any company with honest intentions would stop you from closing your own account immediately. I can only conclude that there is something unwholesome about Facebook, And I wish that they would stop sending me emails and calling me Nancy!
How can someone download anything from a facebook profile? It does not give anyone access to your PC. There are millions of people with facebook accounts out there, my wife and I have both had fb profiles for years and never been hacked. I would suggest that if you hear of 5 people who have had their profiles hacked, then there are 10 million out there who have not told you that they have not.
Amazon scammed me a while back for 38 quid. I argued and got it back. Happened again next month for same amount. I rang them and told them what a bunch of cu*nts they were. They gave Money back and closed my account. Result. Shit company anyway. They are no more than spivs now selling everyone else’s knocked off gear.
True. But your advice about just ignore it (ie if you have an account but don't use it) is completely wrong. And should be taken as so. If you'll never use it, delete it including requesting all data be deleted. If you use, make sire you update the settings accordingly. For staters, they can find out you, what you do, where you live, DOB, know your friends. All these things can be used by crooks for a brute force attack and others on stuff, if they think you may have something worthwhile. Example. You own a business. It realises upon IT to buy/bill/pay/delivery stuff. They guess a password to access a database. Or get someone to open and email attachment, normally 'here is the invoice for....' and it executes a virus which can then spread like wildfire thru the system and lock it down. The you have to pay a ransom or lose all the data. Imagine. 20 years of sales records, all transactions, all invoices, tax records, everything. Gone. Unless you pay a fee. DHL were caught like that, and the industry suggests thousands of small businesses each teat are attached ij one way for another. LinkedIn. Facebook. Twitter. Instagram. All used by crooks to profile someone for attack. The crook mo longer bangs you on the head and runs off. He doesn't need to.
As I understand it there is a law that grants you the right to be forgotten. Unless the data holder can demonstrate a reason for your data to be retained, i.e. a bank that has a legal obligation to retain your records for a set period of time, then they must remove your data within a reasonable time (I think this is now 1 month) after you make the request for them to do so.
Everyone is ignoring the real reason not to use Facebook, I see. Still, if you are comfortable contributing to Nick Clegg's salary, crack on.
