This made me laugh as I recently got a 3 series and made sure it fell under £40k due to tax. So if that car with all the essential bells and whistles was £45,600, I may instead have gone for the very nice Jaguar XE with loads of kit at under £40k. I really do think BMW/Mercedes/Audi/VW will lose sales if we don't agree a good trade deal. We are a very substantial market to them. The EU will absolutely screw us if we sign May's withdrawal agreement, even the experts state this: On payment of the exit fee we also secure the ‘privilege’ of starting talks on a deal. The terms of that deal must be agreed by all 27 EU states (unlike the Withdrawal Agreement). This will be a negotiating nightmare. We will face the same cliff-edge in two years, but with less leverage and unanimity to contend with. The lemming option is sensible? I can see that a lot of people don't like the idea of full EU membership because they feel it somehow weakens UK 'sovereignty' but to give up all the advantages of being members of both the single market and the customs union as well, just looks like economic suicide to me but then I haven't had years of having had my mind poisoned by reading the telegraph, the sun, the daily express or the daily mail.
You're missing the point. The point is that like for like, your 40k car will be 45k after Wrecksit but may be brought back down to 40k by stripping the toys out of it.

It was very interesting watching Euronews yesterday, they were interviewing German business owners, a couple that traded mainly with British customers said they had done no preparations whatsoever for a no deal Brexit and they thought that very little had been done in Germany. Steve
