British Indy: What Happens Now?

Discussion in 'Wasteland' started by Loz, May 23, 2015.

?
  1. Full Brexit with "no EU deal" on the 29th March.

  2. Request Extension to article 50 to allow a general election and new negotiations.

  3. Request Extension to article 50 to allow cross party talks and a new deal to be put to EU.

  4. Request Extension to article 50 to allow a second referendum on 1. Remain in EU or 2. Full Brexit.

  5. Table a motion in parliament to Remain in EU WITHOUT a referendum.

  6. I don't know or I don't care anymore

Results are only viewable after voting.
  1. over 80% pf the printed media is pro brexit. check yourself.
but, you did hint at somthing there, our tv and printed media is stuck between a rock and a hard place.being 100%pro union, any anti tory, brexit covarge runs the danger of strengthening the indi cause, so the covarage is abismal and always with an element of SNP bad.

  2. Nope we voted to leave the eu not just it's name but how it operates. How it operates defines the eu, leave the eu then by default you leave how they operate.

  7. The Government's own leaflet, sent out to all UK households, stated:
Voting to leave the EU would create years of uncertainty and potential economic disruption. This would reduce investment and cost jobs.
The Government judges it could result in 10 years or more of uncertainty as the UK unpicks our relationship with the EU and renegotiates new arrangements with the EU and over 50 other countries around the world. Some argue that we could strike a good deal quickly with the EU because they want to keep access to our market. But the Government’s judgement is that it would be much harder than that – less than 8% of EU exports come to the UK while 44% of UK exports go to the EU.

Despite this very clear statement and all the very tough statements from Osborne, Carney, Obama even; we still voted to LEAVE.

I think the divorce was always going to be painful and the EU have tried to get us to agree to a completely one side Withdrawal Agreement. This may have actually done us a favour as they are forcing us to exit with all the shackles broken. We need to carry on and seek an exit with as many reasonable agreements as possible.

They have belatedly started to take steps to reduce the damage to the EU 27 which also obviously helps the UK. They have a massive amount of export business under threat from a melt-down at Calais.
We are then going to be in a position where we can negotiate a proper trade deal with the EU. Time for the Remainers to accept we are leaving and start making the best of it instead of looking to sabotage every step forward.

  8. Yeah but last time I looked, I quoted TV and then you respond with newspapers, thanks for the disagree though :joy:

  9. Fair enough, I don’t read newspapers so can’t comment.

Generally I listen to the radio and read off the internet.
To me the BBC in particular are the worst.

Is that not the case in Scotland ?

  10. The leave campaign were all pointing at Norway and Switzerland, saying look at them, they’re not in the eu and they’re doing just fine.
Now you’ve got your slim majority, it’s no, we don’t want to be like them, they’re too close to the eu, we want total isolation and WTO rules.
Tell us when WTO rules were mentioned by the leave campaign

  16. Has Ireland started to wake up?
Speaking to media in Dublin Wednesday night, Ireland's Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade Simon Coveney said the report was worrying for the trading relationship between Northern Ireland and the Republic.
Dublin's “contingency plans for a no-deal Brexit make for sobering and stark reading," Coveney said. “The report would require an immediate focus on crisis management and possible temporary solutions."
The contingency plan notes that as England is the land bridge between Ireland and the European Continent, severe traffic delays in the aftermath of a no-deal Brexit are likely on the Dover-Calais shipping route, and adds that Ireland's transport department is working with companies to identify alternatives.

  17. Not all I seem to remember and of those that did, it was to point out the eu is not the only game in town

Edited for correct as slim or not, a majority decision is what wins democratic votes

I wonder if you were watching the same election, leave means leave

mmm I wonder which one is a gated elite community and which one is not?We both know the answer to that one don't we, stop being silly now. The U.K. can now be on the world stage creating deals specific to the U.K. and it's needs in the same way the the 167 other countries that are not in the eu. I'm not sure why you think the U.K. is not entitled to do that? There is no isolation there at all, it is the eu that is a gated community.

    Just a few 2016
