998 Prices Of 998s's

  1. The mono looks the best, IMHO.
As I've said before mine was sold with both seat units from new.
Given my stamp, I'm grateful for the rear steel trellis.

  2. I think theres zero chance of it selling for that.

  3. Reason for saying that was cause even though some monos were sold with the steel biposto frame, the mono itself is wrong. Or at least the wrong stickers on it.

But agree with you, these bikes transform no end lookswise with a decent mono unit fitted.

  4. Mono looks best, but quite like the idea of taking kids out on back. Start them on expensive addiction early, so they can't afford drugs later.

  5. Did others make a mono seat for these?
    Mines a genuine Ducati one.
I don't think my offer was unique.
Biposto with a carbon belly pan, mono seat pod and termis / ecu upgrade... so you got both seat options.

  8. I may be shot down here, but were the 998's not a sales success. A parts bin/stpp-gap jobbieto plug the gap to the 999. I seem to remember Ducati struggling to move them at the time as the buying public saw them as an old design struggling to shift units.
Not saying they are bad in any way

  9. Indeed, the 999 was delayed, the 998 was a last minute stop gap to use the new 999 (998cc) engine, for sale in 2002 and along side the 999 in 2003. There was a 999 prototype sat in Pierre Terblanche's office late on in 2000 so I'm told by a good friend of Pierre's at the time who saw it there :eyes:

  11. I don't remember any deals being offered to move stock?

  12. I can remember auto italia in Lincoln having some on offer. I remember having a slightly tweaked sp1, having a ride on the demo 999s and being unimpressed, they had 998 FE's which were lovely(for no real reason) for less than a 999s and offering a full system.

    Good times!

  13. That's where my 998s 2002 is from.
When I meant no offers, I meant from that time.
The matrix and FE versions came after that, at the same time as the 999.....which I didn't like, mainly due to the swinging arm and head lamps.

  14. No mono's were sold with steel sub frames, only Biposto's had steel sub frames. All 27 genuine mono's sold in the uk, in 2002, had ally frames

  15. Well did you purchased in the end or are you all hat and no cattle:thinkingface:;)

  16. Rob, some did make it through with steel frames.
