I've had two requests from members just this morning for me to delete their accounts. I have asked them both why and the replies where pretty much the same. One response said (and I quote) "I came on here for good banter and Ducati chat but some of the members just seem to bring the place down by turning everything political, pc and at times abusive". So it would seem that people getting ranty, indignant, and overly political is a turn off. Please consider what you write in future. If you are unsure as to the rules then please look them up and try to adhere to them. They did go on to say "Not my cup of tea really but it is still the best forum I have ever been on so you should be proud of it"
The political threads are poison where nobody ever changes their point of view, get heated and sometimes step over the mark. Hundreds of pages of people saying the same things and having the same opinions they did on page 1. Why not have a seperate Political category away from the Lounge and Speaker's corner where all of it can be separated and you actually have to opt in to view and take part. Oh, and keep it off the "Recent Posts" list. Just a thought.
That’s a shame it’s the best forum for me being a lady Other forums I have been on are 10x worse at least admin are quick to jump on posts that are not wanted Thank god for the ignore function and in all my time here I have one person on ignore Occasionally ignoring @Exige
Agree 100%. I'd delete the whole area if/when I rule/d the world. There's other forums to pontificate politics and be a general knob if that's your thing.
Don't get me wrong, I've participated, probably too much, but have realised it's like banging your head against a brick wall and try to stay away, only taking quick glances these days. I always feel dirty if I've been sucked in and never leave feeling gratified.
#For me this has been my rookie year with many bumps along the way,but it's how you negotiate them that matters
This is by far the best forum I’ve ever participated in. I don’t mind the political etc stuff, in fact I find the different opinions interesting sometimes and just don’t take much notice of any personal stuff. Don’t get to ride or work on my bike much at the moment, but enjoy reading about others trips out and tinkering / fixing. I’m always impressed by how quick people are to offer help here. If I remember right someone even offered a complete either engine or whole bike to another member in trouble, you can’t beat that.
I call in to the Finm and Noobs show fairly often, but when I do I choose to - it really is that simple you can't please everyone but we clearly have a good balance. For those that want 'Ducati Technical Only' without the 'community banter' then go to a different 'dead' forum (there are a few to choose from) but don't wish to impose your will and kill this one too
He's on mental ignore DB. A bit like a yappy kid that you don't notice after a while. It's just background noise. He's going down to a 3 day week you know. More time on here.
It’s that time of year. Some people take offence easily but tbh, it is very rare to see a truly offensive post. Different view points, yes. But then see the same people join in on other threads in a supportive and friendly way with the “opposition”. Adult and healthy banter imo. As said above, especially with politics, if you can’t discuss and have different view points without being upset, just stay away from those threads. Simples.
That has surprised me, Visibly the traffic has slowed in such areas and noticably over the chrimbo season so I would have said such events would have calmed? "I came on here for good banter and Ducati chat but some of the members just seem to bring the place down by turning everything political, pc and at times abusive". Sometimes you get this where people think they are a the bee's knee's and come out of a debate angry because their own poor debating skills, the other side is fact loaded or their own inability to walk away at the right moment. It's happened to me a few times I'me sure and to others I'm pretty sure. In those events I either take a break from the forum or simply remind myself, out of 46 parts of the forum, speakers is only one. To also be fair El, without knowing who they are, you are only getting one side of why there is a problem. Some who leave/want to leave have been involved. Lastly, to be fair to this forum, people leave forums all the time and people leaving shouldn't always be seen as a bad thing but more like a ducati rattle or back brake, They all do that sir
