Is This the Longest Week Ever?

  1. I've made it all the way from the end of July 2012 to today without too much bother... but the wait for this Friday, when I finally collect the 848 is starting to become extremely noticeable now. I ordered my bike way back then, 7 months ago now(!) and the majority of that time has gone quickly. Even the usual January drag passed without much bother.

Keeping myself busy hasn't been a problem at all but time seems to be standing still this week... Off to see a band tonight then a day and half of work to go and that's it... can't be hard can it?

  2. I feel your pain....and I only ordered in December!

Have you got a small pile of parts to put on too?

  3. Then you'll be a proper member of the forum

  4. That'll be nice....I want to be just like you guys :)

  5. Brilliant! Yes, yes I do... I seem to have spent the whole winter improving my riding kit and spending a stupid amount of time researching the bike and looking into things to do with it and buy for it.

My parts pile isn't too bad though... I have a new paddock stand ready, a DP carbon exhaust shield, a Tricolore for between the headlights, a 7x5 plate and some red wheel tape that I may or may not decide to fit. I think a spash of red may help though with the rest of the bike being so dark but wheel tape is a bit hit and miss. I'm also planning on loctite-ing a heap of fasteners and applying some silicone grease to the electrics. I'd have more but the Termi's and tail tidy are being fitted prior to collection. And I'm now skint beyond belief!

I have no idea how the time to now has passed so quickly but now there's a faint glimmer of "Spring" it's getting to the unbearable stage. Collect it Friday pm then the first service is next Saturday so I hope I don't encounter too much road crap in the intervening week!

    You getting a Corse too?

  6. I know. I've been annoying people with daft questions for ages now. A lot of them would've been easy to resolve on my own if I had the bike in front of me.

It's been in the dealer since mid December when it first arrived. Other than the day I went to see it, I've only been in once since then which was last weekend to pay the bill. Now there's nothing needing done other than to go and collect it time is dragging...

Still - "the best things come to those who wait".

  7. And once you can get some miles under your belt you will love it! :upyeah:

  8. This week is dragging ! Keeping myself busy with work but still going slow. Roll on Friday !!!

  9. I have no doubt about that.

I loved it on the 1hr test ride even. The anticipation of just the ride back up to Aberdeen for work on Sunday night is unreal. I'll be making sure to go the most interesting way I can without getting hypothermia. Then getting it run-in and using it on roads I know, getting to know how it works, how it handles, the noise... all that. Can't wait. I really feel like a child waiting for Santa at the moment!

  10. Picking up a Multistrada by any chance?

  11. Yep the Corse for me too. I ahve a tail tidy to fit too as well as a hugger and a couple of other bits....9:30 Friday morning its mine! I just hope these roads dry a bit.....although its not wet with rain its that nasty slippery salty moisture...could do without having to clean it the second I stop riding it.....especially as its SO COLD!

  12. Nice one.

I am working a half day then taking the train home to get it in afternoon. Wishing I took a day off now but it's too late for that one...

What tail tidy you getting? I went for an evotech after originally wanting the fancy-Dan Ducati quick removal one. The dealer is fitting that, the hugger and the pipes though so I'll be getting a box of spares too.

Pretty apprehensive about the slick roads / new Supercorsa combo when I get it and it's also not great that it's going to see road salt for a week or two. Cleaning every ride for the first while... :frown:

  13. Yep got the Evotech too. Gives me a good excuse to spend some time in the garage fitting it ;-) The wifes dropping me up there and I'll be giving her a box of standard pipes etc to bring home.

Gently gently on this surface but I'm sure it will be fine.

  14. Sun and double digits for the weekend down south

Well there was going to be until I posted that

  15. SUNSHINE!!!!!!! I could kiss you!

  16. Are you using the French weather reports Char? Looks like about 5 degrees down here.....and you had me all excited then!

  17. Sounds like we're going to have pretty similar bikes. Will be good to see how we get on with them once we have them on the road.

Similar routine here. Mrs. P is getting me from the station and taking me to the shop then she'll put the box of spares in the car and I go the long way home.

    Where'd you get it from?

  18. Yep very similar by the sounds of it.

  19. It's an unusually decent forecast for Glasgow too... I don't believe it.

I'm packing multiple layers and full winter gear regardless. It seems to be saying white cloud and 9 degrees all weekend...
