Bought the new Multistrada

  1. The new Multi is supposed to pull even from low revs with the improvements made over the last model which I test rode last year.
Everyone I have spoken to that has ridden one of the 2013 models says it is a vast improvement on the low down revs so only time will tell !
    and yes image ruined

  2. It will be as its now a twin spark, although older ones can be tweaked with FATDUCS or remapping, v-twins just dont like going slow

  3. I bet your going to find it hard to sleep tonight with you 1st march pick up.

  4. You could say I am quite excited yes, thankfully I am also tired and have an early start as my car is booked in for service and mot first thing. Get that done then home get the tiger out for its farewell ride then should be on the Multi by lunchtime. I don't think I have ever been so excited about picking up a new bike before.
Not long till yours either. Might even be down the Ace Cafe tomorrow night as a few mates are going !

  5. Good for you. I look forward to seeing the pictures! Im sure its going to be emotional handing over the keys of the Tiger but Im sure that will go as soon as you pull off on the PP. Have a good meet up, you will have a pretty splendid machine to show off.

I have to wait until next weekend for mine, I know that they are very busy getting all the bikes out for this weekend so have not bothered them with any requests until Monday. Can't wait!!

  6. Thanks and good luck next weekend, will try to remember the pics bit but not to good on these computer things !
Your right about them being busy that's why they wanted me to pick it up tomorrow, which suited me fine.

  7. Multi 12S and Explorer 1200 here. Love them both:biggrin:

  8. Wow x2 1200s you didn't fancy a change of style then? lol

  9. What do you think of the Explorer back to back with the Duke?

  10. Of course run it in properly....or just click it into Sport mode and crack the throttle open....

..then you'll truly understand what you have just purchased :)

  11. Chalk and cheese. The Exploder is much more flexible and grunty and the handling is far better than the wheels and chassis suggest. It doesn't have the brutal thrust that the Multi has when the revs build but it delivers smoothly right across the rev range from 2000 in any gear. The Multi is in turn much smoother and more flexible than my old ST4S so Ducati have made serious progress here. I believe the 2013 model is even better. The Triumph is a relaxed high speed continent eater and the Multi is a comfortable cruiser/hooligan bike but both regularly hold their own on the road with a spirited Daytona rider locally:wink: There is a bit more room on the Exploder and the foot pegs allow more options for placing the feet. The Multi does not allow the feet to be moved back on the pegs because of the (optional) centre stand and the exhaust heat shield (Termi option). Strangely the Ducati seat is the most comfortable despite the lack of room and it is the higher of the two as well. The ride-by-wire throttle on the Exploder is VERY light but I personally like it. The fueling is better on the triple too but that is possibly the difference in nature between the twin and the triple. Love them both and would struggle to chose between them.

  12. Keep the Street R .......... I did. Just cant bare to part with it. Two fantastic bikes one for long distant touring and one for local scratching, what more can a man want!!

  13. i did test ride explorer and multistrada in the same afternoon, i felt the explorer had smoother engine but the suspension was picking up more of the bumps than the multi and it seemed a heavy bike with the weight carried low. Not sure the explorer has more grunt, the opposite i would say, it did have plenty of poke though and liked to rev up . There wasnt anything not to like but for me i just didnt feel special like the ducati does.

Ive gotta say i think the explorer is more of a GS competitor than a multi competitor.

  14. Guh, Sick as a dog that is sick, bad cough, infected chest and a runny nose.
Picking up the bike Sat, lets hope the rain holds off.

  15. Hope you get better soon ! Weather is shite my daughters gliding has been cancelled tomorrow and it looks like the PP will be staying in the garage all weekend.
Good luck with your new purchase :upyeah:

  16. Thanks chap. I'm sure ill be alright. It's a touring bike with a screen and heated grips. What more could I want. Ill just load myself up with drugs for the day. I ride all year so a bit of rain doesn't phase me.

  19. Very nice, bet you are a happy chappy tonight :upyeah:
just got to run her in now !

  20. I certainly am for sure. Only had chance to run her home but that was good enough to try some back roads, dual carriageway and motorway. The engine is nice and sweet and the suspension is almost like you are levitating over the road surface.

Sucked having to sit in the traffic like a car on the M40 back into London, not used to the panniers. Really really happy with the bike in general.
