Can't believe nobody has mentioned one of these yet..... Had to sell it last year unfinished but still have the Duke
Jaguar Long nose D type driven by Mike Hawthorn and Ivor Beub to Lemans victory in 1955, and still gets a runout at Goodwood (can’t find a better picture on my phone)... Also has these casually lying around: Although my personal favourite is the XJ220 he has had a Jaguar V12 dropped into just like Jaguar originally promised.....
A special car would be one the a 20 year old going to uni in Portsmouth could afford to buy and insure without me having to chip in..
2 very special cars to me. First up the XJS, my dad bought new in '89, left to me to look after for the last 5+ years. Has covered 9k miles from new and I'm down as the first registered keeper 'buying' it at about 8 months old thanks to a slight mistake from the DVLA. Never going anywhere for obvious reasons. Next up my old Clio V6, shock horror it was between this or an Aston Martin Vantage, went to see this as always admired pictures and never expected to be interested but fell in love as soon as the cover came off. I've only ever seen one on the road back in 2003 when they were released. Completely shit car in nearly every respect but it's up there with the best for the sense of occasion and complete ridiculousness that it was ever manufactured. Probably the only thing I will ever regret selling deep down inside, and hopefully I'll end up with another in the future. I've been lucky enough to have a lot of amazing cars but none beat this. Fully expecting it to be hated on here!
Ha ha, lurvely! I had a 2.8 Special, same wheels and same colour as this. Grrreat dayz! A lot of people bought a 280 as 'last of' investment. I think they do strong money now too, so t'was a good idea. Kind of....
