Yes. We've had votes from 11 people - pretty much everyone who expressed an interest above, and one or two others. All bar two have ticked the Germany option. The next most favoured option is the Somerset / Devon / Cornwall one but that only has four votes and two of those (@El Toro and @I'm closing in) are merely tentative. This being the case I'm going to close the poll and rename the title of this thread to say "Germany" Cochem and the surrounding area is fantastic, so I'm happy to go there again unless there is any other option we can see that promises to be almost as good. If we do base ourselves in Cochem I'm sure there are directions, roads and areas to ride that I haven't done yet. Anyways ... it looks like we have something to talk about when we meet at the Bike Shed on Wednesday. Will you bring some maps? (If anyone else has any suggestions for alternatives to Cochem, or routes to ride please post them up here so that we can discuss them before @Pete1950 and I meet on Wednesday evening).
Hell, I may even do a lap if its open this time. Its been years. Maybe we could hook up with @doogalman or even stay at his place, numbers permitting?
Depending on Brex...shit - http://www.theaa.com/driving-advice...nwpcECeWBxqnWSAlZiRcMdnJ0P2DRYDXdiMyhe2EC4Ch4
No chance of staying here, .Have11 mates staying over Easter mostly on rsv4's so likely to be a riot. Would be good to hook up at some point.
I have my much-thumbed maps of Belgium and Western Germany at the ready, but this time we will have satnavs no doubt, so less scope for errors. Actually I rather like taking wrong turnings on rides - you get to go to places you would never otherwise see.
So are we going for the default of staying in Cochem again (Hotel Nos?) or does anyone have any other suggestions?
The Park Hotel in Bad Bertrich is pretty good and has been regularly used by at least a couple of biking organisations. It's not in Cochem but all the same roads are easily accessible.
TBH as much as I like Cochem it would be good to stay somewhere different having been there 4 or 5 times.
Frau Noss still sends me Xmas cards. But how about the Zur Post in Klotten? Very motorbike friendly: https://www.hotelzurpost-klotten.de/en/motor-bike-hotel.html
I get an email too...also get one from a car hire co zitauto that I rented a car from years ago in Portugal
Hotel looks good but there are many fewer restaurants in Klotten than Cochem ... 7 as opposed to 67 according to Trip Advisor .... and no bars! https://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Restaurants-g1053688-Klotten_Rhineland_Palatinate.html https://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Restaurants-g198637-Cochem_Rhineland_Palatinate.html
