just got a phone call from my local dealership (the owner called me up ... super good customer service), advising that there are two new service bulletins for my 1260 Multi. DNA has increased the "reach" of the key fob recall to now include the 1260 Multis ... and there is a new service bulletin for the rear turn signal wiring. so, planning on taking the 1260 in to get these service bulletins done next week.
update to latest TSBs ... took the 1260 into the dealership this past Saturday ... they performed the following: TSB 18-011 Upgrade Brembo components - 2 hours labor, plus these parts: 61241211A - Reservoir Baffle, RR BRK, CLU FLUID 61241201A - Reservoir Baffle, FR BRK FLUID 89340291A - TAPPO SERB POMPA FRENO BREMBO 61041941A - PISTON D16 SPARE PART FRONT BR TSB 18-016, Rear Turn Indicator Cable Repositioning - 1/2 hour labor -Drilled holes and rerouted wiring for rear turn indicators They could not perform the Key Fob Recall ... had to order the Key Fob from Italy. will take the 1260 back in next week or two when the part arrives. The dealer did update the Bluetooth SW, the TFT SW, and SW for the EFI and ECU ... which is cool.
No vehicle ever leaves the factory fully sorted/developed. I find it encouraging that manufacturers these days admit that and do these updates to customers bikes. In the past you tended to just live with any issues unless a safety recall was required.
Interesting. So they have changed the pair of 'baffles' (which I assume is the rubber bit that sits on top of the fluid), the fluid caps, and what looks like the master cylinder piston. I wonder what symptoms these changes are trying to address ?
Since Brembo switched to using plastic reservoir caps, they've been prone to weeping fluid, tightening them makes it worse as the cap distorts. Brembo have redesigned the cap assembly to prevent this. That's all this update does. The master cylinder piston is an improved material, been out a while and it looks like some of the MTS were involved. A VIN check with your dealer will show if it's an applicable update for yours.
Thanks Nelly. As you will know this fluid splashing is something the 1200s suffer from too, in fact mine does it some times (if I take the cap off when it does there is usually fluid on top of the rubber diaphragm). What are the chances they will do this TSB update on my 2012 bike I might hve to treat myself to a new cap
Can't see it going back to the early gen' bikes John, but the parts aren't much in the way of cost. Does the trick though...
Has anyone else with a 1260 been informed of these service bulletins, I have had my bike in a couple of months ago for a new rear indicator fitting, this was due to condensation build up, the re-wiring is supposed to stop this, there is supposedly a recall on a lot of the multi's for a pressure test and adjustment of the clutch hydraulics, this is to assist getting the bike into neutral easier....
Recalls and technical updates are different things. Generally a recall will be safety related or critical to the bikes performance. Only recalls will generate a notification to customer whilst tech updates will be picked up at service. If you’re unsure if your bike is due any attention, give your dealer a call with the vin.
Just spoke with my dealer, the brembo update has been done on my bike, 1260S, they told me there are two outstandings on my bike, the keyfob and the rear indicator wiring, parts have been ordered, once there in the dealership they will call me.
When I took mine in for its 9,000 mile service in early November they did 4 software updates: Injection control, instrument unit, bluetooth update and ECU coldstart updates. They also did the rear indicator wire reroute and I think a clutch slave recall. They didn't mention anything about the key fob
I've just booked my 1260 in for an annual service with Riders in Bristol, using their "FREE" collect + delivery service (on offer currently), for reasons I won't expand upon at this precise moment, other than to reiterate the caution required when tightening one of the cheese manufactured Allen headed bolts!! During the conversation they service guys advised my bike required 4No recalls, all as noted in the replies above, which will be done at the same time as the bike service: Brake recall. Clutch slave recall. Rear indicators wiring recall. Key-fob recall. So a real benefit from using the C+D service, is I won't be waiting around aimlessly and eating too many Riders breakfasts = Result, even if slightly more costly now, with the extra stud extraction necessary, as a direct result of operator ham-fistedness….
