British Indy: What Happens Now?

?
  1. Full Brexit with "no EU deal" on the 29th March.

  2. Request Extension to article 50 to allow a general election and new negotiations.

  3. Request Extension to article 50 to allow cross party talks and a new deal to be put to EU.

  4. Request Extension to article 50 to allow a second referendum on 1. Remain in EU or 2. Full Brexit.

  5. Table a motion in parliament to Remain in EU WITHOUT a referendum.

  6. I don't know or I don't care anymore

Results are only viewable after voting.
  1. We are only talking about how many holidays people get a year and how we build cars.

The EU actually does a very good job of protecting local products like

    Champagne
    Whisky
    Melton Mowbray Pork Pies

  2. How about:
We leave on WTO rules and immediately agree a Free Trade Agreement with the EU with no caveats.
Would anyone really disagree with that I wonder
I think we will just get - that can't happen bla bla bla. But as it is mutually beneficial weighted towards the EU why not?
And of course we could agree to work as we have been doing closely with the EU on terrorism and whatever else we both chose is mutually beneficial.

Lets see what that brings :eyes:

  3. So we are agreed that Switzerland cannot make decisions for itself that an independent country expects to be able to make - border security and integrity is pretty much a basic requirement before you can call yourself a country. Switzerland cannot control its borders and cannot vote to change things in the EU.

In the EU, but not a member and they cannot vote. Like I said. Can we agree to agree now?

  5. : o O

You are Guy Verhoftwat and I claim my ten free EU Armored Divisions.

How many EU members have borders that are subject to the GFA? Or any similar agreement?

You are a naughty, naughty man.

  9. Why is the GFA the EUs problem?

    That’s our problem

  10. Another good QT last night and again the leave without a deal audience was enthusiastic and Remainer panel members made to feel unpopular. I think thanks in part to Blair, the 2nd referendum risk has almost gone and the EU is left with us exiting on March 29th or conceding on the backstop. Maybot has to fillerbuster her way to the finishing line.

The EU has also put itself in a knott by saying Article 50 can't be delayed unless there is a majority in favour of something in the UK. There won't be....tick, tock

The Withdrawal deal should be amended with a 2 year maximum duration backstop, £39 billions starts to be payable upon conclusion of mutually agreeable trade deal. Then voted through parliament, then presented to the EU. They can then choose to agree to it or our exit on 29/3 is WTO.

  11. We tried that at the beginning. They said no

  12. How hard did Olly Robbins really try?

The dynamics now are very different and the heat is being felt back in the EU.

  13. Hasn’t the time limited backstop not already been rejected by the EU?

  14. I don’t understand why can’t all agree to sell the swivel eyed, creationist DUP down the river and have the EU customs union border in the Irish Sea. That keeps everyone happy apart from the bigots.

  15. Yes of course they've said nothing can be changed in the deal.

So lets put the choice in their hands; Agree to our amendment (that has cleared the Parliament vote) or we have to leave on WTO. Pressure back on them for a change.

  16. What seems to be being ignored by all is that the backstop (if invoked) would appear to be in breach of the Act of Union 1707 Sec VI, which basically requires "That all parts of the United Kingdom for ever from and after the Union shall have the same Allowances Encouragements and Drawbacks and be under the same Prohibitions Restrictions and Regulations of Trade and lyable to the same Customs and Duties on Import and Export"

So, which Treaty are they going to break? The GFA or the Act of Union? And if England unilaterally breaches the Act of Union, could it be argued that it is null and void?
    :D
thaught i would throw that in, just for the craic mind. seems fair, its been more than 10 posts since i last got a word in.

  17. You don't consider a return to criminality and murder in the UK&NI to be any kind of problem for the EU?

Damn, you Remainders really do despise the EU! Why are you so keen to Remain?

  18. Nice one!

That takes us back to Brexit is impossible

  19. what do you think leave means, away from your spectrum remain world?

  20. As I mentioned above. I would be quite happy for NI to stay in the customs union and the U.K. not be, but Fin has just told me that’s also not legal.

That plan would leave an open border in Ireland so no issue with the IRA. It’s what the majority in Northern Ireland voted for
