V4 Recalls, Recalls And More Recalls.

  1. Crap?? I was only saying what the AA said to me, they said their is no way of strapping the mid of the bike or rear safely and he was corncerned it may get damaged as the v4 has a lot less strap down points than the 11/1299??

  2. You sound like one of these people who likes to indulge in a bit of recreational outrage. You haven't spent 25k plus on a bike, so relax.... There now :)

Don't think it can be used in BSB or WSB either. It's 1103cc.

And what's your concern with the V4 engine going into the Multistrada? Other than a cam chain tensioner advisory, there's been no detectable faults. On the contrary, it's a fekkin masterpiece!

  3. How about the oil and coolant leaks, clutch problems plus numerous minor issues masterpiece yes but a flawed one
The V4 is being used in WSB / BSB
No issues with the V4 going into the Multistrada as long as it's fully sorted
I'm a Ducati owner 45 years and have spent a considerable amount of money in that time and havea 1260 PP on order currently if I was in the market for a V4 my preference would be Aprillia

  4. Alright, alright. Lovely :)

And I just had to Google 1260PP

The bike creating this whine-athon is the current V4 and it's derivatives. Not the WSB/BSB bound V4R.

Pay yer money and take yer choice ;)

    *Aprilia :upyeah:

  5. As a fellow owner I have to say it’s a fantastic bike, ok it’s had a few teething issues and the amount stacking up is slightly annoying but I sort of expected it when buying a new model Ducati, the new RSV4 probably is a more ‘sorted’ bike and equally brilliant to ride but that has evolved over the last 10 years so I’d expect it to be more sorted- it’s sort of becoming the 911 of superbikes in that sense, not that that’s a bad thing!.
If rumours are true I’m very interested about the RVF1000R, that’s the only V4 I can see myself ditching the Ducati for.

  8. The ones for BSB & WSB are the sleeved down 1000cc version.

  9. 5mm shorter stroke I think I read somewhere. Which will probably short change it with torque....

  10. Yep. Short stroked, with new lightened crank, Ti rods etc for more rev loveliness

  11. He means the rating you gave his post.... maybe fat thumbs on your phone like the rest of us when that happens?

The AA man is having you on. They recovered my 1299S just over a year ago, and there is nothing extra on a 1299 to strap to just wheels and rear sets...

  16. There is no doubt in my mind that the quality of components on the V4 is dire. Cheap plastics, crap welding, chocolate fasteners etc etc. I know people on the forum love to say "oh, its a Ducati, what do you expect?" or, "bin the bad bits and replace with after market quality", but that's not what I feel I have a right to expect after forking out £25k, and its not what you get with any other manufacturer I have experience of, and I have had something from most of them over the past 45 years. I want to spend my money on what I want, like carbon wheels, not what should have been right first time.
The difference between workshop recalls and safety recalls is understood, but I would say that the workshop recall for the misrouting of the front wheel speed sensor cable should have been a safety recall. It was inevitable the cable was going to wear through on the front tyre, and when it did all of the electronics packed up. The engine still ran but nothing else worked, including the speedo, which therefore meant the bike was illegal for use on the road. I rode one back from a Silverstone track day in that state, suspension locked in race mode meant no fillings left in teeth by the time I got home 3 hours later, and speed was managed using the rev counter up the M1 with Specs cameras just about the whole route. In addition to the recalls I have had exhaust, sump, clutch cover, dash, complete rear hub assembly, replaced under warranty. The bike has now spent 3 months out of 11 in the dealer workshop.
A concerted effort to make Ducati add a year to the warranty would get my support. I bought mine with an extra 2 years as I intended to keep it forever (like my 14 year old Aprilia RSV Mille factory, which is built with real quality bits) so getting 5 years makes sense. How do suggest moving this on jj996?

  17. I was hoping to get more backing from other owners, but seems like we are merely 'Snowflakes' moaning about something we should expect of a Ducati.

My aim was that we would have strength in numbers and I would pen a letter with a list of owners who also are fed up of problems (Name & reg plates) to Ducati UK and hope we get a sympathetic ear and take it from there.

I really think an extra year warranty/ breakdown should be given to original owners of gen 1 bikes.

  18. I'm happy to add my name to the list.

  19. Rvf1000r sounds interesting

  20. I totally agree especially when it is a completely new model introduced ... It's nice to have the latest and the greatest but every new model has the same growing pains ... It come with the territory ...
