Which is why I paid for a garage. When I called to book there were less than 10 bookings. I was told when I paid MSV, there will be 5 in a garage 1 side, 5 in the other side, 10 to a whole garage. I was told we would all get an e-mail when the number had been reached. We all got that e-mail same day it seemed on here. Other riders then said, they may or may not come, book later etc... Then mentioned, first in the door, then extra kit etc. Potentially last booked, first in, might put someone out who was expecting space as booked earlier but arrives later. Called MSV to see what the plan was as no mention on here. The guy I spoke to seemed to have no idea what was going on, how could they with out final numbers. If people don't commit or book last thing, they can't work out numbers. With April being grim... I wasn't playing that game on a 1st trackday. They said we will find a space for people. I said, if I know in advance there won't be space. I would rather book a garage in advance. I won't be too impressed if I turn up on the day and there are no garages left. 1st trackday less hassle the better. They said they would put me next to the DUC garage, people from another group can't use my garage unless I give them permission. I don't mind sharing a garage, up to a reasonable point obviously, but I'll be fucked if I'm gonna get there early to get a space, otherwise be thrown in where ever or crammed in. I will probably bring some extra bits with me too. When racing (cars) people tested the day before and got there early as I did. Some would park outside the paddock. Often circuits would let people in who stayed the night before that had travelled further. Racing was a ball ache & trackdays should be less so. I have raced (cars) in an MSV championship, and raced on their tracks and test days. Garages were allocated to racers with kit space, garage numbers emailed the day before with drivers name. No pissing about. Turning up first thing with drivers briefings, scrutineering, was busy.. Hence having a team of some sort. Having had to once run around to get the garage key at Oulton with this going on, was not much fun.. Could relax until after first quali. It may not be racing but I stopped racing because it was hard to juggle everything, which meant leaving at silly am to get to some circuits in time to set up, to prevent losing another day at work, testing days etc.. I can afford to stay local as I did over race weekends, cheaper than a motor home short term and I don't need to make it harder than needs it to be. I have enough hassle at work. When I've done a few trackdays I will know what the crack is, but for now I won't be messing anyone else about at least.
@Cream_Revenge will be having his bike in a garage not with you lot. Absolutely guarantee it. Or the car park.
Y Yes + @Not Carl Fogarty garage he paid for. I've never had an issue for garage space at Donny, just would be good of we were all together.
We were all told 5,10 ratio to a garage when booked in originally? They should honour that or start a DUC 2 group really. It's the same deal twice over. I had that conversation with them. I wonder if after initial interest they are trying to leave garages vacant thinking they might have a busy day. Took myself out of that what if... I'll probably sleep better knowing I'll not Turn up with 15 riders already in it, so I don't want anyone paying towards the garage I booked. I don't mind if I take in 2 or 3 riders on the day depending on space, no cost. I gave up my spot booking in, to book my own space to prevent this, as you won't know the full number till nearer the date. Not sure what MSV are doing, seems a bit vague. MSV can't tell you to use my garage to reduce or absorb your allocation, odd if that was the outcome. I completely understand some will feel it was included in the price. I sooner pay a little more personally, have the option to turn up later and have a bit of space if things do get silly. I have no idea how TD's go, maybe in April (less db) it might not be so busy? I'm sure it will all work out.
They may be raising an eyebrow at 23 people getting 10% off and realising it just cost them £250 + garages.
Understand your thoughts mate. You'll still want to get there fairly early, takes ages to set up, sign in and get your kit on. Time flies pre session 1. If your using tyre warmers then you want them up and running before the briefing.
So....how many garages are we having & how many in a garage? Will they give us a garage number, or are we sorting it out among ourselves? I'm sure my guys will pay the extra so that no one has to pay £40.
Right, I think: @Not Carl Fogarty has paid for a garage himself. He's happy to take a couple but wants it easy and relaxed and plenty of space which is fair enough. That leaves 20 (I think) for three half garages, do 14 in one whole garage and 6 in the other half. If people think that's going to be a bit snug we need to pay the extra. Bit crappy of MSV but it is what their website says, even if they have told others different over the phone. In future I think it's worth starting a new group at 10. Although I did about 5 groups like this last year and most of the time it was just me.
Same, I’m happy to pay for a garage so as we’re not all packed in like small oily tinned fish. Who knows, I might even have a bird in tow or a couple of fancy friends and would quite like to have two bikes set up with all the gear (and no idea) laid out and don’t fancy any of you muppets cramping my style or gypsying my stuff!
Just a thought is it 3 or 4 groups? If it's 3 groups on an MSV day there won't be a problem with garage space. We might not all get in the allocated garages but I'm not precious and I'm happy to find my own space and come and meet up between sessions. If JoeC has hot women in tow I'll make a b-line for him first though.
It's 3 groups Nick so should be fine. Still miffed off about MSV though. Baskets. Anyhow I don't mind paying extra for the garages either if it comes to it. To ease the situation further ill leave the booked garages for those that need it as I'm sure I'll be able to find a space anyway living only about 20 mins away and then riding there....skipping the long queue of vans at the entrance (sorry guys ) to get in before the bulk of you (probably!). I'm coming to the booked garages to nick all your biscuits though.
TBH I don't think we'll get all of us in 3 x1/2 garages, even if we're careful with space, everyone has tools/brew making facilities /WOW etc so I can't see that working. If we have 23/25 people in our group, how much would it be to have 3 x full garages & divide the cost between us all?
Likewise and it would be useful to know what garages we are each in before arriving as I just know after a 2+ hour journey to get there time will be tight .
From last year, they just reserve the closest to the sign in garage (left end as you approach from the carpark). Which one exactly depends on who else has reserved etc. they just put a note on the door with the group name, so we will still have to kick people out.
