To me it just isn't a nice ride, got off it after doing 60 ish miles last time I rode it and took my Goldwing out which is of near enough the same age and it was light years apart in terms of comfort and performance. Couldn't afford an R90 at the mad prices they go for and thought that R100S would be a good substitute at a more realistic figure. This one seemed to have had quite a bit of work done on it but was a bit grubby so I spent several days cleaning and polishing it and it has come up quite nicely in cosmetic terms but I just don't like the way it rides. Done about 100 miles in total which you may well say is not enough but I've just got it in my head now. Shame but that's how it is.
Who said honesty pays. Sure someone will be interested as it's a matching numbers bike from the first month or so of production (1976) and UK registered from new.
A blast from my past. In 1980 went down to Dixon Racing in Godalming with my Kawasaki Z1 R and had the engine transplanted into a Bimota frame. What a transformation Marzocchi forks ,Brembo brakes Campagnolo wheels.Had saved for months for it.On route my mate and I got lost in the Windsor area at the end of a long straight track. As we were getting our route sorted a carriage and six horses came by driven by Prince Phillip. On reflection we had a lucky escape. He touched the peak of his cap in acknowledgment and we gave him a biker nod and went on our way.Surreal
Wow there is a blast from the past , Dixon racing. Me and my mate used to go out and tour the local bike shops on a Saturday on our peds , Fantic caballero and a malaguti cavalcone and often used to go there . What an adventure , we lived in Guildford lol . Building is still there in godalming high st , unfortunately Dixon racing is not. Cheers puddy
I’m definitely getting old as the new Triumph retro’s are really appealing to me, especially when they put out a decent power figure. This new Speed Twin looks the business and has circa 100bhp and magnesium head covers I’m sure there will be a tricked out version to get the juices flowing, but I can’t help but think, on the type of bike, the budget suspension adds to the riding experience.
