No you didn't, you gave a link that didn't work. I'm fortunate as my skill set is varied and in 2007-2008 I worked for the only company in the U.K. given permission by Mercedes for adaptions for their new fleet trucks. What happened with the immigration was suddenly engineers suddenly stopped getting jobs and agency staff suddenly started appearing from peterborough from eastern europe. Most had never worked on a truck before let alone some of the complex ones. This meant an increase of unskilled staff working on skilled areas and a reduction of skilled staff. The agency staff were paid the bare minimum wage from the agency and our production slumped because of it, as often the skilled staff were carrying out rectifications the agency staff had done, same job twice. On front line roles, uncontrolled immigration saw a reduction in wages, a reduction in quality and a reduction in production. I don't for one minute blame the migrants who moved over for a better life. The fact we fact 3 times more euro migrants here than they have brits over there shows many have stayed the course. I DO blame U.k. employers for fucking over the British staff and manipulating the situation so it was us versus the migrants when in truth, it was people at board level whose wages rarely went down, who caused this issue
I'm actually a big supporter of ID cards. If you can't prove your ID and that you are legally entitled to be in the UK, then you have no work, no access to benefits or NHS, and are deported. No challenges or appeals. Not sure how we process the passport shredders though, maybe do a deal with Turkey like the EU attempted.
I sold my flat here in 2013 and moved back in 2016. To the same road and rent the same garage. I am renting at the moment and waiting to see what happens with property. I can’t really lose. If the economy is fine then house prices will rise and have bottomed out already. Good time to buy. If the economy tanks I will buy when the market has fallen more and sell when it recovers. On Zoopla I did a London wide search, not my area and there are loads that have been reduced by 20% or more. There is a strong case to say that’s got nothing to do with Brexit and everything to do with a natural market correction
to say what? People on £50k and above a year didn't notice any impact on their wages through uncontrolled immigration?
ID cards is one of those things I have changed my mind on and am now for them also. Same for a European, let’s call it defence organisation. I was against a European army and now think it’s worthy of consideration in some form or other. Unreliable Trump to the west and psycho Putin to the east.
See below. As an aside what effect do you think the minimum wage had on wage inflation, given it was static for years? More than 0.2%? UK research suggests that immigration has a small impact on average wages of existing workers but more significant effects for certain groups: low-wage workers lose while medium and high-paid workers gain. The wage effects of immigration are likely to be greatest for resident workers who are immigrants themselves. Research does not find a significant impact of overall immigration on unemployment in the UK, but the evidence suggests that immigration from outside the EU could have a negative impact on the employment of UK-born workers, especially during an economic downturn. The impacts of immigration on the labour market depend on the skills of migrants, the skills of existing workers, and the characteristics of the host economy. This means that research evidence on the labour market effects of immigration is always specific to time and place. For both wages and employment, short run effects of immigration differ from long run effects: any declines in the wages and employment of UK-born workers in the short run can be offset by rising wages and employment in the long run
749er's fault He was telling us brexit had devalued London house prices, I was trying to arrange a candle lit vigil in sympathy #thinkofpoorLondondersandfallinghouseprices I also did a go fund me page, so far I am upto £8.76
My one reply of the weekend. The real reason for a slowdown in the London house market in the nicer bits - STAMP DUTY. By the way, check out what's happening in France today - episode 13. See you on Monday chaps.
